As much as I love Luke, I hate that all my favorite characters are suddenly Irish or deranged sounding. It really ruins the listening experience.

The first book I read with this almost lolcat grammar and limited vocabulary was interesting. But, it gets old quick. I just don't have the patience to start another retard-speak series.

The unabridged book is, without a doubt, the most wondrous and beautiful thing I've ever read. I cannot express how disappointing this audio version is. It isn't abridged, it's truncated, summarized, and diminished. I get it, the book is HUGE. This Cliff Notes version, however, is not the answer. I'd happily pay 3 or more credits for a full version, even with a less delightful narrator. I'd eagerly pay a credit a piece for parts 1 - 4 of an unabridged version. This joyless outline is a disservice to Audible, the Author, and any listener unfortunate enough to waste time and money on it.

It's rare for a science book so innovative at the time of it's writing to remain so useful and relevant for so long. I have yet to find a better introduction to the realities of evolution. Who should read this? Any and everyone who hasn't. My only complaint is that, in the last chapter, Dawkins suggests that we move on to The Extended Phenotype, which doesn't appear to be available in audio format. Don't be discouraged by the title, or by the author's abrasive internet interactions. Dawkins is a passionate and brilliant biologist with a true talent for making the complex both interesting and understandable. If you have time for printed books, follow this with The Extended Phenotype and The Ancestor's Tale. The Ancestor's Tale is available in audio format, but so heavily abridged that I cannot recommend it. The unabridged book is, hands down, the most wondrous and beautiful thing I've ever read.

I hate this book. Its well written, well sourced, and clearly indicates when there is disagreement among insiders about what happened, all of which makes it difficult to credit that the picture it paints, of unbelievable incompetence in the White House, might be wrong. I didn't want to believe it was quite that bad. I really hate this book.

This book is a "must read," regardless of your political affiliation. Comey provides behind-the-scenes insights with what appears to be true integrity. He provides his understanding of three presidents, and his own doubts and concerns about his performance in their service. The details are quite different from those presented by political pundits of either side. You must read this.

If you're not a regular church goer, you'll find this light on plot. As a pre-teen fundamentalist, I loved this book and the next two in the time series. As an adult atheist, I eagerly returned to the book I remembered so fondly, and was surprised and disappointed. As a child, Christian notions such as faith and devine hierarchy were so common to daily life that I scarcely noticed. Now, seeing these offered in place of plot is disappointing. I also found it laughable that a scientist and his daughter would be unable to describe sight as electromagnetic sensory perception. Scientists are seldom depicted reasonably in Christian literature, even by Christians who believe themselves scientifically literate.
I like the memory of reading this as a child much better than the reality.

Not for Drivers, frustrating

Highly engaging, good character development, very entertaining. But, the narration . . . great voices, excellent narration if you're listening in a silent environment or using really goo headphones. Not good for Drivers. The dramatic performance goes from loud to soft to loud to soft, and not just for drama. The voices of some characters are too soft to hear without turning the volume too high for everything else. If you listen while driving, this gets frustrating.
I still enjoyed the book around the frustration of whispers, mumbles, and soft spoken characters. Oklahoma character with Louisiana accent was funny, but not a problem.

Entertaining, but goofy. The plot exists only to set up fantasy situations for a ridiculous protagonist. Our goofy hero begins testing advanced alien space warfare weapons in Texas and is surprised when someone shoots back, losing 10 lives and setting the scene for a pissing contest at the Pentagon. Our military genius rescues his ex wife from alien captivity, and stops to move his clothing to another room in the ship before returning to the battle still in progress to actually get them all out of alien custody (their ship being inside the alien ship and under attack while he makes sure she will be all comfy later). If you like "young adult" books, I guess this might be OK. If you like well developed, intelligent characters and clever plots, this isn't the book for you.
