Historia
No Easy Deeds is neither a time travel novel nor a rom-com, but it cleverly blends elements of both genres. Genuinely funny, nostalgic, and occasionally touching, it’s another gem of a story from the bestselling British author, Keith A Pearson.

Can't finish it but...
Revisado: 12-10-24
I did make it to chapter 28, hoping that something, anything, would actually happen. It didn't. I found this book under the Time Travel category, and I'm sure that eventually there will be some in there somewhere, but I'm over halfway through and it's just a poor jilted guy going to work and coming home every day. Add to that the narrator's weird pronunciation of the word "says" (like it rhymes with slays) and the fact that the main character wasn't very likeable or even interesting and none of the other characters introduced so far were likeable, and I just regret wasting all those hours.
At the time I'm writing this, there are only 3 other reviews, all 5 stars and all by anonymous users. I have to wonder if we were reading the same book.

If you've read books from The Chronicles of St. Mary's then you're probably already familiar with Smallhope and Pennyroyal. Want to hear their personal story? This is it. It's a very good one. Jodi Taylor and Zara Ramm work their usual magic, again.

I enjoyed all 3 books in the series.
Revisado: 10-08-24
They aren't perfect, and I'd probably rate more 3 1/3 if that was an option, but each book kept me interested until the end. They aren't perfect and this wasn't my favorite Hystad series, but they're pretty good and the narration is worth bumping that extra half star. The books aren't stand-alone reads but each ends in a good spot and the last book ties things up well enough.

Historia
Librarian Sylvia Ashe knows nothing about her past, having grown up without a father and a mother who refused to discuss him. When she stumbles upon a diary that suggests she's descended from magicians, she's skeptical. After all, magicians are special, and she's just an ordinary woman who loves books. She seeks answers from a member of the most prominent family of magicians, but she quickly learns that finding the truth won't be easy, especially when he turns out to be as artless as her, and more compelling and dangerous than books.

More very light romance than anything else
Revisado: 10-08-24
Audible says 2 stars means it was ok and I'd say that describes this story. It wasn't bad and I made it to the end but I have no interest in the next book in the series. I was hoping for a little more fantasy and was interested in the magical library itself but it figures very little in the story. I didn't find the mystery very interesting and i do enjoy a good mystery, but this was more of a cozy mystery than a thriller.
If you like light romance and light mystery, it would probably rate 3 stars. The narrator was good, except for her attempt at an American accent. It wasn't what I expected but I don't regret giving it a try.

What happened?
Revisado: 05-12-23
I was really enjoying this series but with this book I spent more time fast-fowarding through gruesome torture scenes and battle scenes than I did listening. That is not the kind of thing I like to read about and none of the previous titles were so full of it. The whole tone of this book seemed different. Honestly, I was glad when it was over. I don't know if I'll continue the series or not but I'll definitely take a break from it. It's too bad, because I was enjoying the adventure until Firebrand.

Karigan G’ladheon, running away from school, is traveling through a deep forest when a galloping horse pounds up to her, its rider impaled by two black-shafted arrows. With his dying breath, he tells her he is a Green Rider, one of the magical messengers of the King. Before he dies, he makes Karigan swear to deliver the message he’s carrying, and gives her his green coat, with the symbolic brooch of his office.

Glad I came back to it.
Revisado: 01-30-23
I had trouble getting into this one at first so I left it and came back to it a few weeks later. I started over at the beginning and after a couple of chapters I was hooked. I just bought book 2. There's nothing particularly outstanding about it but the story is interesting, the narration is excellent and the protagonist is easy to root for.. I enjoyed it enough to want to know what happens next, so that's a winner with me.

Historia
I played all those cool video games. I watched all those movies. I even read the books. In most of 'em, the hero shoots the bad guys, drives a sweet car, never gets hungry, and always seems to get laid by the end. Yeah. Whatever. I gotta be straight with you about why I wrote this journal, and it comes down to one thing, the apocalypse kinda sucks. It doesn’t meet my expectations at all.

Not what I expected from this author
Revisado: 04-17-21
I usually enjoy this author but I can't get past all the descriptions of pulling people's skin off in this. Not what I expected at all. I made it to chapter 12 and there doesn't seem to be any relief in sight and there are 89 chapters so I am done. Narrator was fine, story was not for me.

Historia
Tinker's Cottage nestles in a forgotten corner of deepest Somerset. It also happens to sit on a weak point in the space time continuum...which is somewhat unfortunate for Ian Faulkener, a graphic novelist from London, who was hoping for some peace and quiet in which to recuperate following a very messy breakdown. It was the cats that first alerted Ian to the fact that something was not quite right with Tinker's Cottage...the cats and, of course, the Pope, disappearing literary agents, mislaid handymen and the insanity of Cherie Blair World.

I'd listen to a sequel
Revisado: 03-28-21
Almost a 4 star but it fell apart a little at the end. It seemed the author got tired of his story and rushed through the last part by just explaining rather than storytelling. I still enjoyed it and would give a sequel a try if there was one. It's a very British book and there were several famous (over there, I guess) people that this American had never heard of. Wikipedia was helpful. I'd never heard of the author, either, and bought this book solely because it was narrated by Nigel Planer and he did not disappoint. 5 stars for the narration. The little Discworld reference in one part especially pleased me to hear in Planer's voice.
