Historia
In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

I had no idea...
Revisado: 08-03-18
about the Tennessee Children's Home in the '30's and '40's. This book taught me something but it also confirmed the connection between biological siblings not raised together. That is my story, too.

Historia
On a warm summer morning in North Carthage, Missouri, it is Nick and Amy Dunne’s fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick’s clever and beautiful wife disappears. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn’t doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams about the slope and shape of his wife’s head, but passages from Amy's diary reveal the alpha-girl perfectionist could have put anyone dangerously on edge.

Kept me on edge.
Revisado: 08-19-12
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
My hesitation about recommending this book would be because of the excessive vulgar language. It got really tiresome by the end.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
I couldn't wait to go someplace in the car (where I keep the CD's) just so I could listen. This story had so many twists and turns in it that every time I listened something new came up. I enjoyed the alternating story telling between Nick and Amy, each with their own take on things. I was left wondering how their lives would end and wishing for more.
What does Julia Whelan and Kirby Heyborne bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
It's always more interesting to hear a book when the voices alternate.
Did Gone Girl inspire you to do anything?
Be careful!
Any additional comments?
As mentioned above, the excessive use of foul language did become irritating by the end. At some point it becomes not just meaningless, but also irritating.

Historia
Oslo in November. The first snow of the season has fallen. A boy named Jonas wakes in the night to find his mother gone. Out his window, in the cold moonlight, he sees the snowman that inexplicably appeared in the yard earlier in the day. Around its neck is his mother’s pink scarf. Hole suspects a link between a menacing letter he’s received and the disappearance of Jonas’s mother - and of perhaps a dozen other women, all of whom went missing on the day of a first snowfall. As his investigation deepens, something else emerges: he is becoming a pawn....

Gripping Mystery

Would you try another book from Jo Nesbo and/or Robin Sachs?
I would listen to another Jo Nesbo and/or Robin Sachs book.
Any additional comments?
My only negative feeling is that the book was very, very bloody. I almost put it aside because of the violence, which seemed excessive.

Historia
Imaginary Jesus is a hilarious, fast-paced, not-quite-fictional story that's unlike anything you've ever read before. When Matt Mikalatos realizes that his longtime buddy in the robe and sandals isn't the real Jesus at all, but an imaginary one, he embarks on a mission to find the real thing.
