Historia
Amy Whey is proud of her ordinary life and the simple pleasures that come with it - teaching diving lessons, baking cookies for new neighbors, helping her best friend, Charlotte, run their local book club. But Amy’s sweet, uncomplicated life begins to unravel when the mysterious and alluring Angelica Roux arrives on her doorstep one book-club night. Something wicked has come her way - a she-devil in a pricey red sports car who seems to know the terrible truth about who she is and what she once did.

Great story. Annoying performance
Revisado: 03-01-24
I almost didn’t make it through the second chapter due to the child-like whine of the narrator. I’m glad I stuck it out for the story. The narration became less annoying as the story progressed.

Stop the baby talk for adult women!
Revisado: 09-18-22
It’s nice to find an author who intertwines a good mystery with sharing her Christian faith. The story would have been better had the rushed ending been an epilogue and addressed the outcome for the “bad guy”. My problem with the narrator was the baby talk for adult women. There is no excuse for this demeaning behavior in this day and time, especially from another woman. I have three stars because other than this not-so-small error in judgement, the narrator did a great job.

Painfully long and predictable
Revisado: 05-09-22
One of the most drawn-out and predictable thrillers I’ve ever read. I know in the first hour or so how it was going to end but thought at the time that it wouldn’t be that obvious. Wrong! At about chapter 25 I was frustrated with the weak and stupid woman who sees to be on the pages of too many psychological thrillers that I couldn’t listen for four more hours that I skipped forward ten chapters. Didn’t feel like I’d missed anything at all due to the repetitiveness. Listened to the last hour or so, which was enough to confirm what I’d known hours before. I’m so glad I skipped three+hours because I already feel like enough of my time has been wasted on this book.

Not sure why people are saying it’s the same storyline as Big Little Lies
Revisado: 01-30-22
Sure, it is the same genre, and if you enjoyed Big Little Lies, you’ll probably enjoy Her Dying Wish, but it’s not the same storyline. My only complaint is that there are so many central characters, all introduced in the first chapters, that it’s hard to keep track of who’s who. Otherwise, it’s an enjoyable book that kept my interest throughout.

Maybe I listen to too many psychological thrillers, but I had this book figured out within the first 30 minutes but kept listening, waiting for a surprising twist, which never came.

The Bodine ranch and resort in western Montana is a family business, an idyllic spot for vacationers. A little over thirty thousand acres and home to four generations, it’s kept running by Bodine Longbow with the help of a large staff, including new hire Callen Skinner. There was another member of the family once: Bodine’s aunt, Alice, who ran off before Bodine was born.

Offensive portrayal of some characters
Revisado: 04-30-18
Great story and decent performance. However, as I found the portrayal of Alice and Easy offensive to people with disabilities and people who have been through tough circumstances. I kept waiting for the revelation that Easy had brain damage only to find that it was the narrator’s bad taste.

Could have been shorter
Revisado: 03-09-18
There were many times in the book that I wanted to skip to the last few chapters. Though I knew how the story would end, I kept listening because I was interested in how it would unfold. In my opinion, too much time was spent on the “before”.
