If you love mouth noise and teeth sucking...
Revisado: 09-08-22
... Then you'll love this because ALL the anchors do it... CONSTANTLY. It's a darn shame too because the content is really great. I find the constant smacking, swallowing and sucking air through teeth(Francis) not only annoying but unbelievably unprofessional.

Johnny Napier had won most of the hands handily and had cleaned out the others. He could already feel the weight of their angry glances falling on him. It wasn't hard to tell that the men were not good sports about losing so much money. Most people wouldn't be, but these men were used to pulling the trigger for lesser reasons.

I cannot say enough about Geoff Sturtevant's performance here. It is a breath of fresh air to hear such a crisp, clean, and confident voice with absolutely no background noise. This man is a true professional. He made the story all that much more enjoyable For me. The story itself was already pretty damn good. loved the author's style! Great job you two!!

Sturtevant is a badass!
Revisado: 09-22-20
I absolutely loved the book. It was definitely entertaining and, as with anything Geoff Sturtevant writes, it was very well written and full of the little details I've come to love in his stories. I would happily recommend this to anyone. The narrating is also topnotch.

noise reduction is a thing
Revisado: 09-03-20
these narrators call themselves professionals, and rightly so. That is why I get so annoyed when I purchase an audiobook only to hear background room noise in the "finalized" narration. Getting rid of background noise is audio editing 101. There are absolutely ZERO excuses for the horrible quality of this audiobook!! This guy should be ashamed to have put this out the way it is. Ridiculous!

A collection of absurdist and thought-provoking stories from the author's Return to the Dirt, Just Speculating, and more, including unreleased, exclusive, audio-only content! Performed by a cast of award-winning and Audie® nominated narrators. Fans of the macabre, dark humor, and cerebral thrillers are guaranteed a good listen. Occupational Hazards is an unflinching ride through the absurdity of it all. Existentialism, absurdism, and outlandish humor merge with ordinary, workaday life for a truly unique perspective of the human experience. Not recommended for the faint of heart or easily offended. But if meaty stories are what you're after....We hope you're hungry.

This author is AMAZING.
Revisado: 08-03-20
Geoff Sturtevant writes in a manner that can evoke so many different emotions, but personally, I have to say that his humor is on a different level than most. I listen thru ear buds while I work, and found myself many times laughing my ass off with people staring at me. To those bird dogs I say, get this book and listen to it...I dare you to try and keep a straight face! It's not possible. If you succeed in not laughing than you have a personality like a dead moth.

Not the same author
Revisado: 05-29-20
There is something significantly wrong with this book. It almost seems as if it was not the same author. I mean he mentions the fact that Sally and smoke had no children but if they did they would want them to be like Pearly and Cal. That is strange because it is well documented that they already have 3 children. Also, spoiler alert, but in the book a friend's wife and children are murdered and it goes on to be written in a manner that makes it seem like Smoke doesn't quite relate to how his friend feels about it even though we all know Smoke's 1st wife and child was murdered in about the same manner. I don't know this just seems really weird to me. I don't know what's wrong with Johnson in this one but there IS something off with him in the book.

Historia
Smoke Jensen never would have come back to the gold-mining town of Red Light, Montana, if it hadn't been for his sister Janey's estate. That isn't the only thing the Last Mountain Man has to settle, however. There's also the score between him and Major Cosgrove, the man who owns Red Light and who is trying to lay claim to Janey's land. All that stands between Cosgrove and the land is an avenging gunslinger with a blazing .44 - and a good reason to use it.

Historia
Big Max Higgins ran the outlaw town of Hell's Creek up in the north Montana Rockies...and he decided to include the nearby town of Barlow in his cutthroat operation. What he didn't know was that Smoke Jensen was there with his wife, visiting relatives. It didn't take Smoke long to rout out the lot of them with angry fists and blazing guns...but Smoke didn't count on Big Max doing something as daring, desperate, and stupid as kidnapping his wife - and demanding the town of Barlow itself as ransom.

This was just a wonderful series period.
Revisado: 08-26-19
I thoroughly enjoyed this series more than I can say. It was wonderfully narrated and very well written. I thought the zombie genre was played out but this was a fresh and fantastic angle on the subject. I started really caring about the fate of some of the characters as well and felt their pain and their joy as it came about. I highly recommend this 3 book series to any one.
