Great story but flawed execution

Great book, a little dark

Well narrated and a good story. A few "first book" mistakes, such as repetitions and excessive foreshadowing, but overall excellent and a lot darker and more serious than the title might imply. A lot of people reviewing this book seem dissatisfied that one of the main characters is... not a very pleasant person. While that is the case I did not find it to be a bad thing. Said character is also being punished for his lack of moral character, quite a lot.

Very useful!

This is the book I wish my high school guitar teacher had had me read.
It manages to focus on the basics, on core principles, without going of on tangents.
The only drawback is that the narrator could do with a bit more variety in speed and voice. During the wrong circumstances his voice could be very relaxing and even sleep inducing :)

GREAT, BUT A BIT STRAIGHTFORWARD

Loved the book, it was mature and clever, dark enough but not grim. Sometimes things just turned out a bit too conveniently for the main character and some stakes were raised without pay-off.
