Historia
One L, Scott Turow's journal of his first year at law school and a best seller when it was first published in 1977, has gone on to become a virtual bible for prospective law students. Not only does it introduce with remarkable clarity the ideas and issues that are the stuff of legal education; it also brings alive the anxiety and competitiveness, with others and, even more, with oneself, that set the tone in this crucible of character building.

Great Storytelling
Revisado: 05-03-24
I listened to this before starting law school. This is a great book to read if you enjoy good storytelling and if you want to get an idea about what to expect before law school. I love to be prepared with an idea of what I’m getting into.

Historia
Experience a bold take on this classic autobiography as it’s performed by Oscar-nominated Laurence Fishburne. In this searing classic autobiography, originally published in 1965, Malcolm X, the Muslim leader, firebrand, and Black empowerment activist, tells the extraordinary story of his life and the growth of the Human Rights movement. His fascinating perspective on the lies and limitations of the American dream and the inherent racism in a society that denies its non-White citizens the opportunity to dream, gives extraordinary insight into the most urgent issues of our own time.

Phenomenal Story & Message
Revisado: 12-18-23
I never knew how Malcolm X grew up. I always suspected the Nation of Islam was behind his murder and he knew it was coming. The redemption story is beautiful and hearing of his pilgrimage was as if God (Allah) was making sure his message was received before he departed this Earth. I highly recommend this book for anyone who may need to challenge their own personal obstacles or wondered about Malcolm X’s upbringing… it will astonish you.

Historia
Yetu holds the memories for her people - water-dwelling descendants of pregnant African slave women thrown overboard by slave owners - who live idyllic lives in the deep. Their past, too traumatic to be remembered regularly, is forgotten by everyone, save one - the historian. This demanding role has been bestowed on Yetu. Yetu remembers for everyone, and the memories, painful and wonderful, traumatic and terrible and miraculous, are destroying her. And so, she flees to the surface, escaping the memories, the expectations, and the responsibilities.

Amazing Tail of Merpeople
Revisado: 12-01-23
The story telling was beautiful and informative to imagine how the pregnant women thrown overboard from slave ships adapted into merpeople. I’ve heard this story before but now I know for sure I believe the story.

Historia
Coexisting but conflicting needs create self-sabotaging behaviors. This is why we resist efforts to change, often until they feel completely futile. But by extracting crucial insight from our most damaging habits, building emotional intelligence by better understanding our brains and bodies, releasing past experiences at a cellular level, and learning to act as our highest potential future selves, we can step out of our own way and into our potential.
