Historia
The Wombles is the first ever Wombles book and introduces the stern but kindly Great Uncle Bulgaria; Orinoco, who is particularly fond of his food and a subsequent forty winks; general handyman extraordinaire Tobermory, who can turn almost anything that the Wombles retrieve from Wimbledon Common into something useful; Madame Cholet, who cooks the most delicious and natural foods to keep the Wombles happy and contented; and last but not least, Bungo, one of the youngest and cheekiest Wombles of all...

Charming
Revisado: 05-03-16
Would you consider the audio edition of The Wombles to be better than the print version?
I wouldn't say one version is better than another, but Bernard Cribbins does a great job narrating, and we can listen as a family and enjoy the book together (one of the things we love about audio books in general).
What other book might you compare The Wombles to and why?
The story reminded us of a combination of The Wind in the Willows, The Borrowers, A Bear Called Paddington, the hobbits from Tolkien, and Fraggle Rock
Any additional comments?
We thought this story was just adorable. We did laugh out loud several times. We'd like to hear more of the Wombles books, especially if they're narrated by Bernard Cribbins, for it's nice to have the continuity in a series.

Prince Liam. Prince Frederic. Prince Duncan. Prince Gustav. You've never heard of them, have you? These are the princes who saved Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Snow White, and Rapunzel, respectively, and yet, thanks to those lousy bards who wrote the tales, you likely know them only as Prince Charming. But all of this is about to change.

Would you listen to The Hero's Guide to Saving Your Kingdom again? Why?
My mom and I just listened to this adorable and well-written book. I'll be looking out for more books by this author, but the reading is phenomenal. This wasn't reading, this was a performance. The way he read the narrative and the voices, and the production with the music and sound effects were great.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
We chuckled quite a bit. And there were a few times when we were practically rolling on the floor laughing.

Historia
Bill, (Lord) Rowcester was well and truly in the gumbo. With the benefit of hindsight he could see that setting himself up as a Silver Ring bookie might not have been his smartest move ever. Particularly when being down on his dibbs threatens his oncoming nuptials with the sterling Jill Wyvern. Lucky for Bill he had the land-lease of Jeeves.

A fun romp
Revisado: 05-07-12
I'm a big fan of Wodehouse and have most of the audiobooks and love them all. This one have a fun story and was a bit different, being that Bertie Wooster is only mentioned and Jeeves is on lone to the hero of this story. It takes place after WWII in an England where the aristocracy had lost much of it's power and wealth and the characters watch horse races on tv. The story itself is basically the typical Wodehouse kind of story, ludicrous and pretty funny. The reader does a great job, and I enjoyed it a lot. Not quite as funny and the Jeeves and Wooster stories, but still plenty of fun.
