What did you love best about Channeling Morpheus for Scary Mary?

JCP has a great way of character development without it being heavy handed. I feel like I get just enough to make me want more but enough that I know who the people are

What did you like best about this story?

The changing view points between "books" was great. It was nice to see their story from different sets of eyes

Which character – as performed by Gomez Pugh – was your favorite?

I always like Gomez when he reads for JCP and this time was no different. It did take me a bit to get into the voice for Will Bill.

Who was the most memorable character of Channeling Morpheus for Scary Mary and why?

I was a big fan of Wild Bill. The name, the look and the attitude made him a different kind of vampire.

Any additional comments?

I was provided a free copy of the audiobook for a fair and honest review.

I tend not to listen to too many audiobooks without reading them first, something about knowing what's going to happen makes me enjoy it more. However I had not read these novellas yet but enjoyed the audiobook immensely.

Gomez Pugh does a good job in the reading though it did take me a bit to get into his Wild Bill voice. I always love JCP's world building and I liked the character development as it flowed through the five books. I look forward to listening to more of this series to see where Michael and Wild Bill end up..b

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

A hot sexy story with decently flushed out characters.

What does Mark Steadman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

His accent was fantastic and really set the correct stage for the story. I just wish a little variation between the two MC's was done.

Who was the most memorable character of Helping Hand and why?

Jez of course. I loved his journey through the book in regards to his relationship with Mac.

Any additional comments?

*** I was provided a copy of this audiobook for a fair and honest review ***

Jez and Mac are roommates in a house in college who start out as friends and end up as something more. The book starts off innocently enough with the two deciding to stay in on the weekends instead of going out with their other roommates. For Jez it's to save money and for Mac he needs to concentrate on this studies.

One night Jez suggests they watch porn together, they do and as the weeks go by their encounters start to progress from wanking next to each other, to helping each other and it continues until they become sexually involved.

Then Jez does something he never expected, he falls for Mac in a big way and the two of them need to figure out what to do about how their "relationship" is going to proceed.

Story

There was something about this story I really liked, I think it was Jez's realization that it was more then just getting off with Mac and dealing with how that changed not only his situation with Mac but with his whole world view. I really loved Jez and wanted the best for him. Mac was a little harder to get a handle on as the story is from Jez's view but it was nice to see him deal with the changes in his life in a mature, adult way and not act like a a*&hole.

Narration

I liked the narration on this, Mark Steadman's accent help sell the story I just wish there had been a little better distinction between Jez and Mac's voices but overall it was a good job. And the sex scenes.. holy heck they were hot.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The same things were repeated a lot and it seemed unnecessary. Also some explanation of the conflict between the two packs would have helped.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

More development of the environment and less on Adiran moping because he can't see Jasper. I didn't understand why NO one explained why the two packs were feuding. It was just we hate them and they hate us.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

Performance was okay. I would have liked some better distinction between character voices.

Any additional comments?

*** I was provided this book free of charge for a fair and honest review ****

A modern retelling of a Romeo and Juliet type feud between families with some twists. One - the waring "families" are actually shifter packs (tigers and wolves) and two Romeo and Juliet are actually two men named Jasper and Adrian.

This books starts off with Adrian finding his way in the shifter world as he had grown up in the human world with his shifter father and human mother. He gets accepted into a pack after being on his own for a while and starts settling into shifter life.

One night he's out and meets a super hot drummer named Jasper and the two have one night together. Then Adrian finds out what Jasper is (a tiger) and that he can't see him again because of some feud that is never really explained.

So I really liked the premise of this story but the execution was a little choppy. We get no back story on Jasper, not much on Adrian and the the reason the two packs hate each other is never explained. Adiran pursues Jasper ( in a kind of stalkery way) and the two meet up to hook up whenever they can (which is not covered much.) They meet in animal form one full moon, run together and then spend the night together and then it's over. So it looks like a HFN but nothing feels like it happened or is resolved.

I just wish there had been more.. it felt like the story was just starting and then it was over.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

More research about major plot points. An 18 year old can't gamble in Las Vegas.. it's illegal and there is no way it would happen.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

I didn't find much interesting about either story. The whole drama in the first book was boring and cliche

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The first narrator was not good. He had no distinction between voices and it took a book I was already not loving and made it worse.

Was Mile High Romance Box Set worth the listening time?

Not at all. I was provided an ARC for this and finished it to fulfill my commitment. If I had not I would have returned this for a refund.

Any additional comments?

*** This book was provided as an ARC for a fair and honest review***

2.5 stars

This is a two box audio compilation of the first books in [author:Aria Grace|6566097]'s Mile High Romance Series. There are two different narrators for each book so I will address both books in this review.

2 stars

The first is When it's Right narrated by Jason P Hilton in a story about Shane a vet technician and Alex one of the clients at his aunt's practice. This book alternates each chapter between the two MC's so you see some of the same things but from different perspective and if this information had not been provided I would have been unable to tell who was talking at any given time due to the fact that the narrator did not differentiate between the two characters at all. It made this a very hard listen and this was compounded by a plot with a convoluted plot twist and severe lack of communication between everyone in the book. This book was a miss for me

3 stars

Next was When I'm weak and it was narrated by Michael Ferraiuolo and thank goodness he voiced each character at least a little different which made this an easier listen but this book as well had convoluted plot details to make issues for the MC's Jamie and Reed. Okay so the whole conflict is that Jamie at the age of 18 was in a casino and had a sexual interaction with someone who ended up being 15. For some reason this gets him on the sex offender registry so of course he doesn't tell anyone and lets himself be treated like trash by customers at his work who sexually assaults him in an alley. Look I grew up in Vegas and this would NEVER happen (the casino thing not the assault) Casinos have security guards and cameras and do not allow minors anywhere near slot machines and there is no way an 18 year old would have won money on one. I did like the MC's more in this one and the narrator was better but the lack of basic fact checking into a major plot device just made this a hard read.

If you could sum up Hidden Identity in three words, what would they be?

Complex, Accepting, Gritty

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

I wasn't surprised I could see it was who it was from about halfway through.

Which character – as performed by Joel Leslie – was your favorite?

All of them were good but I really liked Jimmy's mum. I like accents and he did it well. Barry was also nice.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The beginning where you find out what happened to Jimmy's dad

Any additional comments?

**** I received this audiobook in return for a fair and honest review****

This was a new to me author and I really enjoyed the book. Jimmy McSwain is an old school P.I. who happens set in the modern world. He works his cases, spends time with his mom and sisters and tries to find that special man to share his life.

While all of this is going on he is still obsessing over the murder of his father over 15 years prior and for me, the constant mentions of this dragged the story down for me. It was constant and I understand he wanted answers but it seemed to be on his mind ALL the time above everything else.

That aside I did enjoy the rest of the story, his interactions with his family and clients are great. You can tell he cares about all of them and wants what's best. In this first story he meets Barry at a club, they hit it off, get together and things go a little sideways. We end the first story with them in limbo and with Jimmy eyeing the new police Captain.

Jimmy solves some cases in all of this, not much is given to these, not as much as I expected in a detective novel. It was much more focused on Jimmy's life and struggles dealing with his father's death.

I would be interested to see how the rest of the series shakes out. Who does he end up with.. Barry, the captain or someone else. Does he ever find out what really happened to his father.

What's not to like in this book. The story, characters and just everything is so well done. As always Greg's narration was fantastic. He is the voice of Cole.

If you could sum up The Lightning-Struck Heart in three words, what would they be?

Hilarious, engaging, heart tugging

What other book might you compare The Lightning-Struck Heart to and why?

Tell Me It's Real..

Have you listened to any of Michael Lesley’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I didn't think he could do better than Tell Me It's Real.. I was wrong. this was so beyond what I could have ever hope for

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes.. I listened to it twice in less than 3 months.

Any additional comments?

Finished listening to the audio book for the second time and it was just as fantastic as the first time... in fact it's taking a lot of restraint to not start listening to it again right away. There is nothing wrong and everything right with this book. I laughed out loud multiple times.. from Cheesy Dicks and Candlesticks, to truth corn, a hornless gay unicorn and a sexually aggressive dragon I Could Not Love This Book More.. and it's capitalized so it's a big deal.
