This book and Wes and Jamie are my happy place. And of course Jacob and Teddy killed this audio performance just like I knew they would. All the hearty eyes!!

Leta Blake's Training Season has long been a fan favorite. And for good reason. The story of Olympic figure skater Matty Marcus and rancher Rob Lovely is one that many have read over and over again. A superb romance, fabulous characters, and so much emotion are just a few of the reasons why this book is so popular. Hearing it made revisiting Matty and Rob just as fantastic as I thought it would be, especially because of Michael Ferraiulo's narration. I don't know that anyone could have brought this story to life quite like he did.

From Rob's husky, sexy drawl to Matty's sassiness, Michael definitely captured their personalities. Neither man is easy or straightforward and Ferraiulo did a wonderful job with each, making them stand out and stay true to their characters. There are a number of secondary characters sprinkled throughout the book that play pivotal roles, many of them female, and unlike most other male narrators, Ferraiulo does a remarkable job of giving each of them--Margaret, Donna, and others--their own distinct voice. Really, the whole thing is just brilliantly done. The cadence, the emotions portrayed, especially the intimate moments that are fraught with intensity and feelings, are so memorable. I give the narrator all the kudos especially for the voice for Ben. He deftly handles him when he's younger and then changes the voice as Ben matures. Truly wonderful work there!

I'm so glad that Leta Blake had Michael Ferraiulo bring this book to life and gave it the justice it deserves. I can only hope he's already on board to do book 2!

Dogwood Days and Spring Fever by Poppy Dennison is one my most favorite feel good reads. It makes me smile and feel warm and as sunshiny as a spring day in a small town where the flowers are blooming, and a glass of sweet tea hits the spot like nothing else. It's not easy to capture that southern charm on the page ... or out loud. Matt Armstrong is a new to me narrator and he had a lot to live up to with this wonderful book but I'm here to tell you that he more than pulled it off. Listening to Dogwood Days and Spring Fever (which are two separate, connecting books) was every bit as enjoyable as reading it the first time. I will definitely be on the lookout for more works by this narrator.

Matt Armstrong did such a fantastic job capturing the nuance of a southern accent without making it too over the top. From Jefferson Lee's rambunctiousness to Clover's snippy but well meaning advice to Uncle Sherman's southern gentleman, Armstrong gave them all a perfect voice. Jefferson Lee is by far my favorite of all the characters and I'm so glad that Armstrong captured his larger than life personality. This is just down home, feel good fun and if you have a few hours, don't miss out on this one. You'll come away with a smile on your face ... and a hankering for a piece of pie and a glass of sweet tea.

I am a HUGE audio book fan. Like so huge. And my normal MO when listening is that I read the book first. I'm not sure why, but I do. Not so in this case, and I have to say, I might just change the way I do things from now on. Greg Tremblay is one of my all time, most favorite narrators (and he's just lovely in person, too!) so I knew that I was going to already enjoy The Warm Up. And the fact that it's about a hockey player (which is my favorite sport!) just made it all the better. I've never listened to anything narrated by Megan Tusing, but that will change after finishing this ... especially if these two work together again. They were absolute perfection and I could really feel how much they each enjoyed the story of Suji and Zimin.

The accents were spot on, the cadence and tone was so enjoyable to listen to, and gah, I loved everything about this narration. No wonder Greg Tremblay is a favorite! There was so much humor, so much HEART in this story and I smiled the whole way through. I loved how strong Suji was, how fierce and protective she is, but she's got such a soft heart. And Zimin? Gah, so swoony and sweet and he sure knows what he wants ... and he wants Suji.

I listened to this from start to finish in one sitting and it is definitely one I'll listen to many times. Be sure to check it out!

Any additional comments?

Anyone that knows me is well aware of my borderline fanatical love for Avon Gale's Scoring Chances series. They also know my love and devotion to all things Lane Courtnall. I loved Breakaway when I read it. After listening to new-to-me narrator, Scott R. Smith, I'm here to tell you that my love for all things Breakaway has grown a thousand fold. I absolutely adored everything about Smith's narration of this book. Lane's voice was so spot on it was almost eerie. And can I just say listening to him as Jared, with that raspy, deep and growly voice is nothing but pure pleasure. I liked Jared a lot while reading the book, but listening to him with Lane pretty much skyrocketed that to full on love. I found the voices of Jared, Lane, Zoe, Coach Spencer and all the rest to be very authentic and very true to their characters. The intonations Smith uses for humor or frustration and especially when Jared and Lane are being intimate (not just during sexy time) to really add to the overall story. Lane's quirkiness and Jared's gruffness all shine through and made listening to Breakaway an absolute delight. Scott R. Smith has a very impressive range, his voice is so pleasant and downright sexy at times, and I laughed out loud more than a few times. All in all the narration just added another reason to love this book and this series and I can't wait to see what Smith does with Ethan and Riley in the next book!

What did you love best about Wolfsong?

Wolfsong was my favorite book from 2016, and as I read more than 250 books, that's saying something. As such, I knew going into this audiobook it was going to take someone extraordinary to pull off the narration. To be able to capture the atmosphere, the mysticism, the emotions that are in Wolfsong from the first page until the last was going to take an extra helping of talent and brilliance and I'm here to tell you that Kirt Graves delivered all of this ... and then some. Each and every character, and there are many, has a distinct voice, complete with cadence and tone. Joe's high pitched, exuberance when he says "I was all like rawr and grr but then I smelled it again and was him and it was all kaboom! I don't even know! I don't even know! You gotta smell him and then tell me why it's all candy canes and pinecones and epic and awesome." Or steadfast, wise Thomas when he says, "Maybe," he said. "Or more. You're different, Ox. I don't even think I know how different. It will be truly a sight to behold. And I, for one, can't wait to see it." And there's the incredible, unforgettable Oxnard Matheson. The book is told from his point of view, so it's his voice we hear most often. And oh my, what a voice it is. Graves conveys everything--hiis disbelief, his anger, his wonder, his love ... all of it shines through Graves' exemplary narration. Then there's the levity that Carter, Kelly, and Rico bring, and the evil that is Richard and Osmond ... the brother/father/friend in Gordo. Just all of it is magical. I was transported to Green Creek from the first word and I never wanted to leave.

This auidobook is a journey ... and a very long one at almost 19 hours. Yes you see that correctly. 19. Hours. But trust me when I say the time will fly by and once you reach the end, all you'll want to do (besides pick up the used tissues from the entire box of Kleenex you'll go through while listening) is start all over again. You'll hear Ox and Joe and Gordo and Thomas and Elizabeth in your head long after you're finished, and this is a good thing. A great and magical thing, because that's honestly what this story is. Magic.

Rules of Engagement was one of the very first M/M books I read years ago, and when I saw it was coming out in audio, I was SO excited. When I saw that the narrator would be Nick J. Russo? Well. My squees of joy could not be contained. He is one of my very favorite narrators out there and as always, his performance was stellar.

As I listened to this story, I vaguely remembered Dustin and Brandon, but the farther along the story went, the more Russo brought them back to life. His pitch and the level of emotion that he uses for the characters has them practically alive as if they were speaking right in front of you.

The storyline itself has it's frustrating moments, quite a few them actually, but Russo kept me wanting more. His voice is just so smooth and can I just say there are very narrators out there that can convey all the nuances of a sex scene quite like he can! Whoa. All in all, this was a win for me. The story itself is just okay, but Nick J. Russo's narration is another home run.
