With “a cunning mind for crime fiction” (New York Times Book Review), Anthony Award–nominated Michael McGarrity ratchets up the stakes in his novel of a vengeful killer with an unspeakable agenda: offing people with ties to the criminal justice system. Next on the list: Santa Fe Police Chief Kevin Kerney, his wife, Lieutenant Colonel Sara Brannon, and their unborn son.

Great Story Telling
Revisado: 11-12-24
What great reading. One disappointment is the constant insistence of the author to be Politically Correct. It does not enhance the story, but it is an intrusion to your reader’s personal political predilections.
Please just write a story because you are an awesome writer…
And forget infusing all the political and socially trending ideals.
You’re not educating us, just annoying us.

As he searches for answers about how the boy died and why, he is stonewalled at every turn, and it seems that someone is determined to keep him from digging further.

Territorial marshals Virgil Cole and Everett Hitch figured things had finally settled down in Appaloosa when Boston Bill Black's murder charge was dropped. But all that changed when Augustus Noble Driggs was transferred to a stateside penitentiary just across the border from Mexico. Square-jawed, handsome, and built like a muscled thoroughbred stallion, Driggs manages to intimidate everyone inside the prison walls, including the upstart young warden.

Historia
Every day without fail, Travis Devine puts on a cheap suit, grabs his faux-leather briefcase, and boards the 6:20 commuter train to Manhattan, where he works as an entry-level analyst at the city’s most prestigious investment firm. In the mornings, he gazes out the train window at the lavish homes of the uberwealthy, dreaming about joining their ranks. In the evenings, he listens to the fiscal news on his phone, already preparing for the next grueling day in the cutthroat realm of finance. Then one morning Devine’s tedious routine is shattered by an anonymous email: She is dead.

Great Storytelling vs. Special Interests Proletariat
Revisado: 03-30-23
I am amazed that such a gifted storyteller, as Mr. Baldacci is, that he has matriculated to a politicized, and what should be personal views, to that of attempting to influence and present as harmless. Then to further Preach, the personal dogmas of what should be personal choice. (by the way, it is no longer personal when paraded in public.)
He then feels the need to demonizes Christianity. while defending one group, apparently, he feels he must demonize others! This is the first sign that what you believe in is more emotional than accurate.
Since he is taking this particular soapbox, I will vote with my feet and leave.
I will no longer be purchasing any more of what was once a great storyteller turned political animal.

Historia
Russell Conwell was an American Baptist minister, philanthropist, and founder and first president of the Temple University in Philadelphia. Chief amongst his groundbreaking lectures is "Acres of Diamonds", a lecture Conwell gave around the world a total of roughly 6,150 times before his death in 1925. "Acres of Diamonds" teaches us that all the means for success and fulfilment are within us or close at hand, and it teaches us how unwise it is to hold the belief that the "grass is greener on the other side"....
