Excellent tale of the legendary D
Revisado: 07-04-23
Most "D" tales are fairly formulaic, but it never gets old. This is no exception, the bad guys are crafty and have and unique fantastic skills. D has a soft spot for the damsel in distress, and the vampiric threat is always more than it seems. You read or listen to one, you have to read them all.

Historia
An existence spent being forced to kill others to satiate a monster. Where the only thing to look forward to was the blessed, if brief, period of time between paying that bribe. Except that very same monster is and isn’t Rene. It just happened to live inside his own mind and force him to do what it wanted - rather than him being an actual monster. That was Rene’s entire life until a fateful day changed that. A day that his career as a hitman for hire built on the monster’s needs will end. Where Rene will be forced to atone for his actions. To be held accountable and judged.

In a world where even the smallest and most remote village is being terrorized by the monsters that stalk the night, there is a hamlet, prosperous and peaceful, where mortals and vampires have lived in harmony for years. A Masterful Production
Revisado: 09-30-22
A new adventure for D and new puzzles that just stack on top of more puzzles. More cerebral than more of D's adventures, this is another excellent tale from the mind of Hideyuki Kikuchi.

Historia
"The City," a tiny metropolis of a few hundred sheltered citizens floating serenely on a seemingly random course a few feet above the ground, has long been thought safe from the predation of marauding monsters. It seemed like a paradise. A paradise shattered when an invasion of apparent vampires threatens the small haven.

D's futuristic world put into perspective
Revisado: 09-08-22
this story puts D on a floating and mobile city that truly sets the high-tech and futuristic tone of D's world. D must fight a new type of vampire that ignores the rules and doctrine that have limited vampires since their beginning. Another masterful tale by Kikuchi and should not be missed.

Historia
Vampires: murderous creatures in the shape of humans, they stalk the night feeding on the blood of innocents. Seemingly immortal, they can be destroyed only by the use of a stake through the heart, severing of their heads, or exposure to sunlight. By the year 12,090 A.D. vampires have ruled the Earth for almost 300 years, and it is only these weaknesses that have kept these foul monsters from totally overrunning the world.

Masterful Storytelling
Revisado: 06-30-22
Following the perfect vampire tale that was Kikuchi's original work, we get a small bit of backstory into D's past. He must unravel a strange phenomena of vampires that can seemingly attack in the day and delve into the mysterious disappearance of four children.
This is a tale that builds slowly but to a stunning finale and should not be missed. Highly recommended to all who love fantasy, not just horror.

It is a dark time for the world. Humanity is just crawling out from under 300 years of domination by the race of vampires known as the Nobility. The war against the vampires has taken its toll; cities lie in ruin, the countryside is fragmented into small villages and fiefdoms that still struggle against nightly raids by the fallen vampires - and the remnants of their genetically manufactured demons and werewolves.

Wonderful, classic story
Revisado: 05-25-22
This story started out as a book, later a classic anime, years later the book was translated into English, then into a manga and finally an audio drama. The story of D and Doris Lang is one everyone with any love of fantasy should hear.
this performance was fantastic and everything one could hope for the tale. definitely worth the buy, definitely worth the listen.

Republic of Thieves
Revisado: 12-29-21
I wish giving the book four and a half Stars was an option, but in lieu of that option it must only deserve five. the author takes so long to write a book that it's hard to encourage anyone to pick up the series and suffer the waits, but the gentleman bastard series never disappoints and the Republic of Thieves is no exception. we see still more of what made Locke and Jean who they are today, and more importantly we finally get to meet Sabetha, the mysterious woman from Locke's past.

the book that started it all
Revisado: 10-31-20
the first book in Arand's ever-growing Sovereinverse, this is a must-read to understand the series. This book is light of the harem aspect of Arand's work and it really helps to explain Runner's growth as a person in the story and his evolving relationships with his companions.
