this is like, the basics, like, real basics, i.e. why its important to memorize, edit. have punchlines. etc.
get this if you dont know how to physically write out your material

Great autobiography of steve martin

Forewarning, I got this book as comedy research as a standup. Not very helpful in that way. That being said. still thoroughly enjoyed it as an interesting story for anyone who likes autobiographies.
