Historia
Gabe Skelter has a temper, which he likes to imagine has the effect of causing people to fear and respect him. On the contrary, his pudgy, underdeveloped body and negative personality make him more your standard outcast teenager. Worse still, he kinda knows what a jerkweed he actually is. Then, in the middle of a class trip, Gabe finds himself spirited away to Regaia: a world of magic, mayhem, and nerd-tastic adventure. Naturally, he’s completely ill-prepared. But in this realm, he’s a monstrous, muscular man of action.

It takes a second or 2 but this series is awesome!
Revisado: 09-18-24
Wow I am not sure how I hadn't heard of this series but damn it is really great. Maybe it is just me and it really speaks to me but it is so good, the first one pulls you in slowly building and creating a wild cast of characters and a world to match. The second book keeps building the success of the 1st which often times is a lot harder and though I haven't finished the third yet (I have 3 more hours) It has not disappointed yet.. The writing is clever and at the same time childishly raw. Captivating, is the word that leaps to mind. Congrats Seth McDuffee you have a new fan and WOW Johnathan McClain is unbelievable and the Narrator. Just do yourself a favor and download it already!

Historia
Jade has spent her life fighting boredom in the terminally ill ward. Surfing the net or reading, she always envied the ability of others to go out and experience the world. She knew her wish to live a normal life was far beyond her reach, but after waking up one morning without the sounds of her life support, she opens her eyes and finds herself with a weak but healthy body in a magical world.

I really wanted to like this but the MC is awful
Revisado: 02-20-24
I started out enjoying this book and thought ok the MC is a little over the top. Then a few more chapters in I decided she was bipolar, manipulative and just plain awful. I kept going hoping perhaps she would mature or be a somewhat decent human being but wow, the fact that she represents "earth" is just plain discouraging. I think it reads like a young adult novel, the MC certainly acts immature and it leans toward that faux romance Twilight sort of styling. I did finish the book, I kept hope that it would improve. Honestly, I had hoped that the other books would have some redemption but reading the reviews it seems as though this is the path for this series. It is too bad I think there is a good premise there but the MC just killed it for me. The Narration was excellent for the record.

Historia
Dirk never wanted to end up on Zaroff's island. He'd cheated and lied, stole and tricked, begged and crawled, all to save his own life, one payment at a time. But now the debt's come due, and Dirk missed his payments. He must muster every ounce of guile and strength at his disposal, must embrace the supernatural powers he'd struggled with for so long, must call upon allies both old and new to face the most terrifying foe a man can face . . . the consequences of his own actions. He doesn't know if he'll survive, but he won't go down without a fight.

Well written conclusion ? to the Dirk Cooper story
Revisado: 02-08-24
Perhaps it is the end perhaps it isn't. I think it could go either way but the book is so well written and the story so neatly sewn together it could end here and it would be a good ending. I enjoyed this book greatly, Dirk and the rest of the characters are well written and plot line is not as predictable as you might think. I highly recommend both books in this series and will watch to see if there is a third.

Historia
Greg and Julian need to make a choice—die in the tornado that’s sucked them up in their van, or agree to hunt monsters in a world full of magic and levels and, oh yeah…monsters. The two frat bros may be master ghost hunters to their podcast listeners, but they never expected their antics to be taken seriously by a goddess in another dimension. And since when are ghosts the same as monsters? Awkward. But when the other option is certain death, it seems like it’s worth giving it the old college try.

I want more Grim Guys !
Revisado: 10-09-23
At first I was not sure if this was just going to be another adaptation of Good Guys and Bad Guys series but though they all take place in the same world. This series could live completely outside the interplay of the other two. I would be completely fine with that but I could also see them come together at some point. I like the brothers. their adventures and the the world they play in. Seems like a fun break from the other too series and at the same time so very familiar. I hope there are many of these to come.

I really wanted to like this a hard one to finish
Revisado: 07-25-23
The story is different, I knew that going in and the start is actually pretty good. But then it really bogs down in the grinding and musings of the main character, Sir Crabby. I saw it through and wish I could say it redeemed itself and has me chomping at the bit for book two. Alas, this will be the first and last Sir Crabby book for me.
The Narrator was good and did keep it interesting as best as he could. It was just too much deep musings about the system, and not enough about the actual story that it starts with. I love Ryan's other stories but I would be hesitant to recommend this one unless you are really into crabs (actually not that bad a part of the story) or the musings of gods and system universe or the interworkings of the dungeon worlds.

Well, this year, after the Spring Planting season, I’m really gonna relax and put down roots. It’s the slow life for me. Sure, the talking animals and cultivators coming to live with me are a bit weird, but this year everything is gonna be basically normal. There definitely won’t be any Heavenly Tribulations, ancient formations, or cultivator issues to deal with . . .

Revisado: 04-12-23
I had no idea what to expect in first book but the characters and development turns into the kind of story where you want to see how things continue one. In this second bio you get more and in my opinion better details of the characters and they the adventures. Ending with potential for the story to continue. Told in a very traditional Asian story telling fashion, I look forward to the next book

Historia
For over 30 years, Dominion of Blades has been the hottest online role-playing game in the world. But the game is too real for some, and after an epidemic of real-life fatalities, public use of the immersion technology has been banned. Jonah wakes to find himself in-game, level one, with no memory of how he arrived and no way to eject. With only two companions, trapped in a world that once hosted millions, Jonah must battle his way across a treacherous landscape, fighting virtual monsters, all too real pain, and a very human enemy.

A story within a story done very well
Revisado: 07-29-21
Having read Matt's other series and wanting more I grabbed both of the Dominion of Blade books as soon as I found them. I have just finished this one and will be starting the next one tomorrow.
I don't want to give a ton away in this review but I really think Matt did an outstanding job. The story is complicated, though it took me a while to understand how complex. The whole plot line grows deeper as you get further along.
The MC and his friends are great characters, I think I was slightly irritated that the MC wasn't more a gamer or a tech person but honestly I think after a bit I actually liked him questioning and changing things. I don't think I would have done much better or made any better choices. He does remind me a little bit of Carl for Matt's other series. Clearly a good moral compass in both MCs is important to Matt, and to me thinking about it.
Matt does a good job of drawing you in and leaving you on the edge of your seat. Andrea Parsneau does a good job of narration, I wasn't 100% I liked her as the narrator but about a 1/3rd of the way in it was clear she was the right choice. I would love for their to be more voice talent, for some of the other characters, but that is a rare thing in audio books and she really does a good job covering everyone.
This is not as funny as Dungeon Crawler Carl books but it is certainly as well written, the characters are just as good or bad, and the moral compass of the story is pretty clear.

When Erik and Rugrat entered the ten realms they didn’t know what was going on. They only knew that they had contracted the two week curse. When entering the second realm they came to understand their character sheets, and part of the system that is called the ten realms. A place that the strong make the rules and the weak cling to them for protection and hope that they might be left in peace. They passed through the trials of the Beast Mountain Dungeon, taking control of it and becoming the leader of nearly 200 people.

Historia
Erik knew one thing after dropping in, when he first saw the numbers before his eyes, the rumors about the "cursed" were true. He was in another world. Survival wasn’t assured. Cultivate, get skills, grow abilities, or die. His old life, as a combat medic, had been hard, but he had learned some valuable lessons. And he wasn’t alone. His best friend, a marine recon sniper, like always, was right by his side. Could they figure out this fantasy world? What does it mean to ascend? How will they master the magic of this strange place?
