Historia
If You're In My Office, It's Already Too Late. James Sexton knows this. After dealing with over 1000 clients whose marriages have dissolved over everything from an ill-advised threesome with the nanny to the uneven division of carpool duties, he also knows all of the what- not-to-dos for couples who want to build - and consistently work to preserve - a lasting, fulfilling relationship. Described by former clients as a "courtroom gunslinger" and "the sociopath you want on your side", Sexton tells the unvarnished truth about relationships. These usually derive from dishonest communication.

Finally a realistic view on marriage!
Revisado: 11-10-24
I've read a lot of marriage books, love books and all the self help books and while I enjoy them, sometimes they can feel unrealistic. This book was a breath of fresh air. Practical advice that will actually have impact in your life. It didn't paint some rosy picture of love and marriage and commitment that feels like a pair of handcuffs, but he talked about it in a very realistic sense. One that requires true reflection and understanding of yourself and your spouse. it's about what marriage really is. i recommend it to anyone in a marriage, thinking about marriage or hoping to be married.

After losing his father, suffering a life-altering car accident, and losing his college scholarship, Michael turned to selling drugs to make ends meet. But when his house was raided, he was arrested and thrown into a living nightmare.

A powerful story with a timely message
Revisado: 11-09-23
I loved this book! Michael Philips does such an amazing job of sharing the tragedies of his life through a growth mindset lens while simultaneously acknowledging the limitations life placed on him. He expertly weaves his personal story with evidence of larger problems in our communities making the story more about people than himself. Deflecting a bit of the focus in such an organic and thoughtful way. As someone who’s path shares similar ups and downs, it was one of the first books in the development space that I felt comfortable reading from front to back because my understanding and comprehension came from my loved experience and not academic prowess. I recommend this book to anyone who loves redemption stories, books about growth mindset, or who like fact supported ideas on how we can make a difference in our world today without hatred and division. Michael Philips, well done, sir. Well done!

Good book but slightly long winded
Revisado: 09-21-22
It was a very interesting read but it became very dense with history in the middle that made some of it hard to digest.

Wow!
Revisado: 12-21-21
I’ve always liked Gary Vee, but this book was so much more than what I expected. I assumed it would be a traditional business book and instead, I found myself diving deep into myself. Challenging my beliefs and who I am at what I thought was a core level. It reinvigorated me and gave me a new lens to see things. Highly recommended.

Great read with valuable information
Revisado: 09-24-20
Generally, I find these types of books are long winded, repetitive and a chore to finish. I thought this book was perfect. Practical information, applicable today, and not repetitive for the sake of length. I’d recommend it to anyone who loves change and growth!
