Historia
In Dead Man's Walk, Gus and Call are not yet 20, young men coming of age in the days when Texas was still an independent republic. Enlisting as Texas Rangers under a land pirate who wants to seize Santa Fe from the Mexicans, Gus and Call experience their first great adventure in the barren great plains landscape, in which arbitrary violence is the rule -- whether from nature, or from the Indians whose territory they must cross in order to reach New Mexico.<

16 hours wasted
Revisado: 02-09-19
I rarely write reviews but this book aggravated me so much I need to vent. This storyline had some potential but the main characters (mostly the 31-year-old daughter, Andrea) were written to be so stupid, helpless and immature that it ruined the entire book for me. The amount of times Andrea responded with a stuttered, "Uhhhhhhh" grated on my nerves! And the way she either couldn't make a decision, second guessed herself, or always made the wrong decisions when she did actually make them, it made me dislike her intensely before the first hour into the book. A Daily Deal (80% off) purchase has to be really awful for me to return it but I am returning this one. I'd rather have my 16 hours back but, since that's not possible, I at least want my few dollars back. I should've looked at more reviews before purchasing this. That's a lesson learned because the warnings were there. I would not recommend this book to anyone. There have been some books that I didn't like at the beginning but then they redeemed themselves by the end, this was unfortunately not one of those. However, there were many reviews from people who disliked this particular book for the same reasons as me but loved other books by this author so I'd give her another try. Hopefully her other characters aren't as frustrating as in this book.

Historia
In the deep woods of East Texas, Henry supports his family by selling bootleg liquor. It's all he can do to keep his compassionate but ailing mother and his stepfather - a fanatical grassroots minister with a bruising rhetoric - from ruin. But they have no idea they've become the obsession of the girl in the woods. Andoned and nearly feral, Eve has been watching them, seduced by the notion of family - something she's known only in the most brutal sense. Soon she can't resist the temptation to get close.

Forces me to rate to read reviews after purchase
Revisado: 06-21-18
I didn't want to rate it, I just wanted to read what others thought of it. Annoying!

Could've been better
Revisado: 06-06-18
I thought the narrator made the main character sound a lot more whiney than was necessary. I would've liked the story better if it was read differently.

This author always makes me cry
Revisado: 06-04-18
Every book I've listened to by this author has had me with a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes at some point in the book. She has a talent for writing books that pull at your heartstrings. The narrators also fit the story very well.
