disappointed
Revisado: 02-27-23
This was a struggle to finish. I kept hoping it would make sense in the end, but NOPE! I forsure am lost on the plot of this book. Its like 3 or 4 different plots that tried to roll into one.
I have a hard copy of this book as well, which did help a little, as diffent parts and voices are in different fonts. However the story, with the way it was narrated and edited together was not good. I've never returned a book and I did finish it, but.....

This series should have stopped/stayed as a trilog
Revisado: 03-18-21
The story was not enhanced by this book. I am glad it's not a fairytale ending they are trying to change the world, but I personally just didn't care for it.
Also didnt care for the multiple narrators. I understand why they did that, as the book is now a four part story and not just Darrow. However I really enjoy the voice and pronunciation of Tim Gerard Reynolds. Since I'm only listening and dont have the physical book it took me a few time s of hearing the other narrators pronunciation of places ands names to put together where/who they where talking about.

I absolutely love this series! you make your guess and assumptions oh what you think will happen and then BAM, curve ball. I found it hard to put this one down. I really wish it would become a TV series.
Tim Gerard Reynolds is a wonderful story teller.

Well I didn't understand this book or its ending(?) If I was not the kind of person that has to finish what I start(in case it gets better) I would have returned it. That being said I wish I would have returned it. I have read and enjoyed Edward Carey just not this one.
However I did enjoy the narration.

Historia
On a dark, wintry day, Eliza Grey receives a mysterious letter from her ailing Nana Mora begging her to come for a visit. This is an easy "Yes". Eliza has always preferred Nana Mora's beach cottage on St. Simons Island to the apartment she and her mom call home in the city. The island is a magical place where stories and legends grow as thick as the Spanish moss dangling in the trees. Now, Nana Mora's eyesight is fading, and there's something she wants to show Eliza before it’s totally gone: a mythical place locals refer to as Sirens Harbor.

This was a great debut book. I love that it was a spin/re telling continuation of Rumplestiltskin. I needed a new series with magic in it. I have already recommended this to friends and my bookclub.

In 1761, a tiny, odd-looking girl named Marie is born in a village in Switzerland. After the death of her parents, she is apprenticed to an eccentric wax sculptor and whisked off to the seamy streets of Paris, where they meet a domineering widow and her quiet, pale son. Together, they convert an abandoned monkey house into an exhibition hall for wax heads, and the spectacle becomes a sensation. As word of her artistic talent spreads, Marie is called to Versailles, where she tutors a princess and saves Marie Antoinette in childbirth. But outside the palace walls, Paris is roiling....

Historia
For thousands of years, there has been a cycle: a Demon King rises and conquers, and a Hero is reborn a hundred years later to defeat him. Each time, civilizations are ground to dust beneath the Demon King's hordes, but humanity has remained secure in the belief that a Hero of legend will always save them. There's just one slight problem. It's only been 23 years since the Demon King's latest rise, and this time, he's already conquered more than half the world. If humanity simply waits for the Hero's return, there may be no world left for him to save.

I listen to this all in 1 day!
It's very much if you took your favorite video game and made it into a 5ish hour story. somewhat predictable, but so are all games. I loved that its was a girl that thinks outside the box/unconventional that takes it upon herself to save the world.

Historia
The 10 enlightening (and often humorous) lectures of Medieval Myths and Mysteries will show you how far from the “dark” times of legend these centuries were. Uncover the facts about the Knights Templar. Reveal the truth behind the tales of legendary creatures like the Questing Beast and the unicorn. Trace the events of the Black Death and the ways it altered the world in its wake, and much more. With Professor Armstrong, you will dig deep into the ways that later generations reshaped the narrative of the medieval years and perpetuated the myths.

Both as educational and entertaining I enjoyed these lectures. It peeked my thirst for knowledge and I look forward to finding more audibles like this. I love to listen to knowledge/facts between every few fictional storys, and as I've learned from this alot of fiction has actual historical base.
