The intertwining stories that form the overall story arc is cleverly done.

A few chapters were predictable but not so much as to be tedious. overall enjoyable and entertaining. The voice acting was excellent, and above par. Great story for road trips. If you love RPG literature this is for you.

Historia
For Hudson, the virtual world of PrimeVerse isn't all bad. It's beautiful, much nicer than overpopulated Earth. It almost feels like a vacation except for the volatile wildlife, lack of any amenities, and—oh yeah—the inability to log out. Exploring the world, learning his class, and leveling skills is all fun and games until a powerful rogue player with a vendetta shows up to wipe out Hudson and his primitive tribe. Thrust into a conflict he didn't create, Hudson is forced into a cycle of respawning where he learns that even death can be used as a tool. So much for that vacation.

Fully entertaining, the perfect primer for a new or budding dungeon player. Story often plays out as expected but not enough to be boring Rated T for teen.

Historia
The goblin invasion is on...and a wizard's work is never done! After facing a hopeless siege, an implacable foe, and an impossible escape, you would think that Minalan the Spellmonger would be able to rest - but the armies of the undead goblin shaman Shereul (known as the Dead God to his human victims) are rolling over the Western reaches of the rustic Duchy of Alshar and is headed toward the heart of the Duchy of Castal. Thousands are fleeing for their lives as hordes of goblins pour out of Boval Vale and devastate the rugged fiefs of the Alshari Wilderlands.

The world teeters on the brink of destruction. The people who should be saving the Earth ignore Jason Asano's warnings and choose to loot the house as it burns down around them. He lacks the strength to save the world himself, but resolves to do it anyway, impossible be damned. The impossible, in this case, means seizing a power that no mortal should touch. It's a choice from which there is no turning back, and marks Jason's first step into a wider cosmos that he is not yet ready to face. Holding the fate of two worlds in his hands, Jason must decide for himself what home truly means.

Revisado: 08-17-23
I listened to this audio book twice in a week and a half. I was transported back to my youth when Larry Niven, Isaac Asimov, Ben Bova and others were my heroes. Human characters behaving in sometimes predictable ways, against unpredictable circumstances and yet logic is the key to solving the problem. Clifford Simak Come to mind, Thank you Mr. Weir!

Historia
When the great red star Calamity appeared in the sky, some believed the end had come. They were right. Calamity created the Epics: humans with incredible powers they didn't deserve. They could have saved mankind. They could have lifted us into harmony and prosperity. Instead they burned. They slaughtered. They conquered. And then they ruled. Jax has learned all of this the hard way. Orphaned at an early age, he's spent most of his childhood training to be a Reckoner - determined to find the Epics' weaknesses, unlock their secrets, and protect those of us who are still left.

Not what I expected at all, but thoroughly entertaining. and MacLeod Andrews bring the characters to life. Not hard core science fiction but enough not to call it fantasy. It was pseudo military with enough action as to keep it interesting.
