Historia
Two astronomers have detected a strange, pulsing signal from deep space. Within hours, the US government goes into lockdown, restricting airspace and scrubbing scientific data. Was the signal an intercepted communication revealing alarming plans for an enemy’s military strike? Or has humanity at long last found proof of extraterrestrial life?

Very Professional Production
Revisado: 12-08-24
Interesting story idea but overly produced with too many TV episodic like sound effects and unnecessary musical interludes and even long pauses of silence, like they wanted to insert commercials. That being said, all the narrators, sound effects, etc. were professionally and expertly done. Just way more theatrical performance than is needed when listening to a book. A good story does not need the fluff and flash that TV does.

Surprisingly mediocre.

This book seemed flatter to me than the many others in the series. It was not as engaging as I have come to expect based on others in the series. The narrator speaks very clearly but I didn’t get the sense of urgency the other books seemed to have.

Not happy about ending
Revisado: 09-21-24
I enjoyed this storyline until the ending. Didn’t like it. Won’t share any details out of respect for those who like me, enjoy the whole series of M D Cooper’s books. I have listened to about 15 of them and this is my least favorite. The reader also sounds young and while she is good, I thought she sounded too young for this story.

Historia
Tanis Richards has spent half her life on the Intrepid, guiding the great colony ship, and its two million passengers, across hundreds of light-years. She has risked life, limb, and those dearest to her to get this far. Now she's within reach of her goal; the New Canaan System, and a normal, stable life. The kind she's only dreamed about. The only remaining hurdle is to strike a deal with the Transcend Alliance and trade the Intrepid's advanced technology for the star system. If only things were so easy.

Historia
We live in a world that’s obsessed with talent. We celebrate gifted students in school, natural athletes in sports, and child prodigies in music. But admiring people who start out with innate advantages leads us to overlook the distance we ourselves can travel. We underestimate the range of skills that we can learn and how good we can become. We can all improve at improving. And when opportunity doesn’t knock, there are ways to build a door.

Not Adam’s Best
Revisado: 11-11-23
This book is more of a summary of examples of hidden potential than the science of finding hidden potential. I was hoping for insights into how to unlock my own and others hidden potential and find I am still looking for those insights. Adam does a great job narrating this book. The low score is for the distracting and time wasting musical interludes between chapters and focus on trying to entertain instead of inform in the book. I realize nobody wants a dry academic paper in book form, but I don’t read organizational behavior or psychology books to be entertained. I recommend reading any other previously issued book by Adam and skipping this one.

Great story

A very enjoyable story weaving multiple life lessons in the form of parables. The author does a great job developing characters with just enough information to set the stage for each parable.

Classic story ruined by the telling
Revisado: 09-19-23
The actors reading this story are very talented and do a great job performing their characters. Unfortunately that puts their interpretation in between the listener and the author so the magic of the story in your imagination is ruined by the middle men and women. The sound effects and long pauses for those effects also detract from the story. The effects are very well done and high quality, but this is a radio soap opera from the 1930’s, not a narration of a book. Think of it as a tv show without a picture. Unfortunately this is production run amok and I can’t even finish it. This is a great example of the axiom “just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.

Historia
The Old Man and the Sea is one of Hemingway's most enduring works. Told in language of great simplicity and power, it is the story of an old Cuban fisherman, down on his luck, and his supreme ordeal, a relentless, agonizing battle with a giant marlin far out in the Gulf Stream. Here Hemingway recasts, in strikingly contemporary style, the classic theme of courage in the face of defeat, of personal triumph won from loss.
