Good story - good narrators

Good story, but sometimes confusing. I found myself going back to pick up my new details that I had missed.

The narration was excellent. The story was very good and I wasn't sure until the very end whether the main character was a good girl or not.

I Just Don't Get It

How did this book get these fabulous ratings? I can't finish it! The technical explanations are tedious, but I could handle those. What I couldn't handle was that the main character, facing the likely end of the world, talked like a 'tween, to himself. He wakens in a craft that is alien to him, with dead people all around and a machine working on his body, and he is so cool that he makes little wisecracks. (John Glenn would have been scared!) I just couldn't stand it. There must be something wrong with me since I'm in the great minority with my opinion!

what a story! as in real life, not every character had a happily ever after ending. The story was intriguing and I found myself Wikipedia-ing characters to learn more. I enjoyed the narration, too, and was pleasantly surprised to find that the author was the narrator.

I listened through the night. Then, I listened in the car, and couldn't get out of the car! I need more! I need a follow-up on these characters!

Just Ok

I bought a new car and had some trouble with android pairing. As the technician worked on it, "Verity" began to play. I thought I would DIE! I wasn't familiar enough with the car to quickly turn it off. I know that guy had a good story to tell about this old lady. Listen to it, and you'll find out why!

a book that made me question myself

This is not a book that's written in lush prose, but one that tells a deeply moving, tragic story that made me question my own strength of character, and reinforced my belief that we never know, really, what goes on in other's minds and what their motives may be. As I listened, I ran the gamut of emotions. The narrator was perfectly chosen for this story. I love a movie that makes me laugh and moves me to tears. I think that In an Instant would be a great movie.

looked forward to it, but...

I know Buncombe and surrounding countys' accents. My mother, who would be 104 years old now, was from that area, and I'm a southerner. Because of the narration, I could hardly get through the book. I certainly don't expect perfection, but it was just so wrong, so many accents, and so many characters right at the beginning. This may not be a fair assessment of the story because it was hard to wrap my head around the tale when the narration was killing me.
