Historia
Alex Sand was spending the evening at home playing basketball with his two young sons when all three were shot in cold blood. A wealthy federal judge, there’s no short list of people who could have a vendetta against Sands, but the gruesome murders, especially that of his children, turn their St. Paul community on its head. Sand was on the verge of a major donation to a local housing charity, Heart/Twin Cities, and with the money in limbo, eyes suddenly turn to his grieving widow, Margaret Cooper, to see what she might do with the money.

Good story
Revisado: 10-14-23
Got used to Eric Conger narrating, so was doubtful i would like this reader. Once i got into the story, i quit noticing the reader and just enjoyed plot development. Without spoiling the ending, i wondered how the story could go on for so much longer after Vergil and Lucas had solved the case. Nice use of twist! Some of the prey series have weak a denouement, but this one wrapped it up well. Well worth the credit.

As always Kaminsky delivers
Revisado: 04-16-16
This is a convoluted story about a plot to murder Russian leaders. Rostnikov, as always is able to unravel the knot, For those us who have grown fond of the protagonist, it is a very good listen. I would advise the reader to enjoy earlier books in the series, before listening to this one.

I was captivated by this story of a white man's adventures in South Africa. The protagonists ability to overcome tragedy speaks to the triumph of a the human spirit. I look forward to the continuing adventures of this dynasty.

Disappointing story
Revisado: 12-21-15
I won't spoil the story for those who like the author and want to listen to whatever she writes. I did not like the ending. I will advise the listener to have lots of tissues on hand. The narrator does a good job of giving different people different voices. I haven't searched for a sequel, hope there is one. That just might make me less critical of this book.

Another good listen. Burke and Patton did it again.
Revisado: 12-19-15
This story is standard Burke fair. This time the protagonist is not a drunk, although his partner is. This one is one of the better books written from a historical aspect. Much of the information is accurate regarding real people and events. I will read/listen to anything Burke writes and Patton narrates. While the violence is there it is not as lurid or pervasive as some of the others he has written. I did like the ending, and the beginning of the Holland family saga.

A variation on Coma, and just as scary
Revisado: 12-16-15
As a medical professional, I like all of Cook's books. This one is set to the future of long term care and seems plausible. As usual, Cook chooses unlikely heroes. While it is a variation of the same theme as Coma and Shock I enjoyed listening. George Guidall is low key and excellent al always.

Another good Connelly listen
Revisado: 12-16-15
I like listening to this author. When I do not know what to listen to next, Michael Connelly is one of my automatic searches. I am always surprised that the author can come up with another episode for this character Harry Bosch. As usual the descriptors bring me right into the scene. It is worth the time and credit.

Very violent, but worth the listen, Will Patton makes listening a pleasure.
Revisado: 12-16-15
I always eagerly await the newest Burke novel and listen as much as I can until is is finished. I found this one exceptionally violent. Everyone gets beaten maimed or shot and of course the protagonist is a mean drunk as we have come to expect from Burke. Regardless, it is worth the listen. Will Patton is a talented speaker and always gets the accents right on. His low key delivery is pleasant to the ear.

Cliffhanger
Revisado: 09-19-15
A bit of a drag in the beginning, but once well into the book, I could hardly put it down. This story has twists and turns that kept me awake into the night. If a reader has not read the first book in the series, I recommend that you listen to it first, then get this one. The foreign names can be off putting, but listening to the first book helps
