Good overall
Revisado: 01-11-23
If this is the first review you read, skip all the others! I read opinions people had on the mother in this and it automatically colored my perception of her. I wish I had gone into it without that and I wish I knew what my feelings would have been without those thoughts put in my mind.
I enjoyed this quite a bit, kind of a dramatic story. It is a nice short listen. I don't love everyone in it, I feel like there is a little bias and lack of awareness in the production, but I'm happy I listened and I did enjoy it.

Historia
It's the end of a night out and Joanna is walking home alone. Then she hears the sound every woman dreads: footsteps behind her, getting faster. She's sure it's him—the man from the bar who wouldn't leave her alone. So Joanna makes a snap decision. She turns, she pushes. Her pursuer tumbles down the steps and lies motionless, facedown on the ground. Now what?

Book wad amazing
Revisado: 11-07-22
I absolutely loved the story, it was utterly fantastic in every way. I loved the two timelines and concept.
I rated the narration lower but kept the overall rating at five stars because even though I didn't like the narrator much, her voice kind of grated on me, the book was excellent enough to make it worth it. It may just be my own senses that made me not like her voice, I don't know whether there was anything about it that would bother others.

Historia
Olivia McAfee knows what it feels like to start over. Her picture-perfect life—living in Boston, married to a brilliant cardiothoracic surgeon, raising their beautiful son, Asher—was upended when her husband revealed a darker side. She never imagined that she would end up back in her sleepy New Hampshire hometown, living in the house she grew up in and taking over her father’s beekeeping business. Lily Campanello is familiar with do-overs, too. When she and her mom relocate to Adams, New Hampshire, for her final year of high school, they both hope it will be a fresh start.

Not my favorite, but good.
Revisado: 10-11-22
I liked this book but didnt love it like others from Jodi Picoult. I love the recurring character Jordan in Jodi's books but I felt the courtroom scenes were lacking. I think realistically there would have been a lot more to the case and the questioning of witnesses. I would have liked more of the case being fleshed out. I felt so many of Lily's parts just dragged on and I got bored in places. However, it was a good subject to write about and could be eye opening for some people.
Key Taw's narration of Lily grated on my nerves for some reason. I just really don't like her voice. It was boring and sounded too lethargic for my liking.

When you listen to this audiobook, you will make many assumptions. You will assume you are listening to a story about a jealous ex-wife. You will assume she is obsessed with her replacement - a beautiful, younger woman who is about to marry the man they both love. You will assume you know the anatomy of this tangled love triangle. Assume nothing. Twisted and deliciously chilling, The Wife Between Us exposes the secret complexities of an enviable marriage - and the dangerous truths we ignore in the name of love.

Serious Gone Girl Vibes
Revisado: 10-05-22
I loved this book so much. It wasn't until about halfway through that it really took off for me, much like Gone Girl. I love twists and turns in stories and this had them. It was well written, not incredibly suspenseful but enough to keep me wanting more. I loved the ending and though some didn't think so, I thought it was a nice final touch.
The narration was good, the male voices bother me from time to time, but overall I was pleased with it.

Leonora, known to some as Lee and others as Nora, is a reclusive crime writer, unwilling to leave her nest of an apartment unless it is absolutely necessary. When a friend she hasn't seen or spoken to in years unexpectedly invites Nora ( Lee) to a weekend away in an eerie glass house deep in the English countryside, she reluctantly agrees to make the trip. Forty-eight hours later, she wakes up in a hospital bed injured but alive, with the knowledge that someone is dead.

Another great story
Revisado: 09-13-22
I enjoyed this book as much as Ware's others. Even more than some others. Just like the others it kept me guessing throughout but I figured it out a little bit before the reveal at the end. Definitely recommend this is you have enjoyed Ruth Ware's other books. Now I've finished all the ones she has on audible so I'm off to read more Lucy Foley since they are nearly the exact same writing style.
I bought a physical copy of this book about a year back and never got around to reading it so I was hesitant to do it on audible and thought I should just read the hard copy but Imogen Church's narration is always worth it.

Historia
During the languid days of the Christmas break, a group of 30-something friends from Oxford meets to welcome in the New Year together, a tradition they began as students 10 years ago. For this vacation, they’ve chosen an idyllic and isolated estate in the Scottish Highlands - the perfect place to get away and unwind by themselves. They arrive on December 30, just before a historic blizzard seals the lodge off from the outside world. Two days later, on New Year’s Day, one of them is dead.

Very much like Ruth Ware
Revisado: 09-08-22
If you are a Ruth Ware fan you will like this book. It could honestly almost have been written by her the style and content is so similar. Lucy Foley's twists are a bit more predictable than Ware's but I still thoroughly enjoyed it. It actually reminded me a lot of her book One by One. Good mystery suspense, I definitely recommend.
The narration was good but I particularly enjoyed Imogen Church as well as the person who played Miranda, I'm not sure who that was.

Good story overall
Revisado: 08-31-22
I loved this book, there are only a couple things I can day against it. One is that the way the main character treats her partner and her riteous indignation is infuriating. Hearing about her anger all the time was grating. The second is that it took me a while to actually get into the story. Once I was in I was hooked but it started very slow. Again though, I did love the book overall.

Historia
Lo Blacklock, a journalist who writes for a travel magazine, has just been given the assignment of a lifetime: a week on a luxury cruise with only a handful of cabins. The sky is clear, the waters calm, and the veneered, select guests jovial as the exclusive cruise ship, the Aurora, begins her voyage in the picturesque North Sea. At first Lo's stay is nothing but pleasant: The cabins are plush, the dinner parties are sparkling, and the guests are elegant. But as the week wears on, frigid winds whip the deck, and gray skies fall.

Confused by other reviews..
Revisado: 08-25-22
I am so confused by the other reviews saying that the main character is so intolerable. I didn't think she was any different that the women in Ruth Ware's other books. I didn't find her to be unlikable, but perhaps her anxiety doesn't bother me because I live with generalized anxiety as well. I really loved this story, another fun ride.
As always, Imogen Church was superb. Her Brooklyn accent was lacking, but it can be hard to nail so I'm giving her a break.

Kept me guessing
Revisado: 08-22-22
I loved this book so much. There was never a time that I was certain what was going on and I enjoyed thinking it through and trying to figure out the outcome. I love how Ruth Ware writes mystery and though some plots can be a bit far fetched, I can suspend my disbelief and just enjoy it.
Imogen Church's narration was superb as usual. There was a bit of echo but it wasn't anywhere near constant and wasn't as bad as some other reviews have made it seem. I only noticed it once in a great while.

Regarding the comment that it is boring, just wait
Revisado: 03-16-22
I am incredibly patient, and I had a really hard time in the beginning with this book. It was every bit as boring as everyone said, BUT IT PICKS UP. Eventually, the Egyptology stuff calms down and it isn't like a textbook. After a few hours, the story becomes very intriguing.
I think this is my favorite of all of her books I have read. It made me feel a range of emotions, and I learned so many things about all kinds of subjects. The main character's indecisiveness was a bit grating, but I personally loved the ending. I was so worried about being disappointed, but I think it was the right way to end it.
I enjoyed the narrator; some of Jodi's other stories have been read by horrible ones, so this was relatively good. No complaints there.
