Historia
Munich, 1949: Amid the chaos of defeat, it's a place of dirty deals, rampant greed, fleeing war criminals, and all the backstabbing intrigue that prospers in the aftermath of war. It is also a place where a private eye can find a lot of not-quite-reputable work: cleaning up the Nazi past of well-to-do locals, abetting fugitives in their flight abroad, sorting out rival claims to stolen goods.

i really enjoy both the novel and the narration. you are kept fully engaged with lots of twusts and turns. and you get a real feel for post war Germany, with the Nazi hunters, the occuping forces. John Lee' narration is perfection and brings the story to life

Historia
Birds of a Feather finds psychologist and private investigator Maisie Dobbs on another adventure in London. It is the spring of 1930, and Maisie has been hired to find a runaway heiress. But what seems a simple case at the outset soon becomes increasingly complicated when three of the heiress’s old friends are found dead. Is there a connection between the woman’s mysterious disappearance and the murders? Who would want to kill three seemingly respectable young women? As Maisie investigates, she discovers that the answers lie in the unforgettable agony of the Great War.

narrator is a complete turnoff- w false upper crust accent!
Revisado: 07-08-24
the first thing that put me off was the narrators enunciation - she is overdoing g the british 'eton/upper class' enunciatio. she sounds as if she is talking g with marbles in her mouth, so a slight 'u' sounds shows up in words where there are no 'u's. the detective us supposed to have been a servant to a 'Lady' but sounds like she was ' to the manor born'! plus she has such a monotone! so this series with this narrator is not an experience I am likely to repeat!

Historia
On January 28, 1742, a ramshackle vessel of patched-together wood and cloth washed up on the coast of Brazil. Inside were thirty emaciated men, barely alive, and they had an extraordinary tale to tell. They were survivors of His Majesty’s Ship the Wager, a British vessel that had left England in 1740 on a secret mission during an imperial war with Spain. While the Wager had been chasing a Spanish treasure-filled galleon known as “the prize of all the oceans,” it had wrecked on a desolate island off the coast of Patagonia.

Brilliant narration and story
Revisado: 06-06-24
Dion Graham was the perfect narrator for this grand story. you could identify with each and every character! don't pay attation to any reviewer who says his tone was monotonous! he brought this tale alive!
Not only is this a true story of the spirit of man to survive, it is also an expose of how politics, greed and power drive so much destruction, then coat the tales with glory. instead of what they really are! Brilliant and thought provoking, and u realize not much has changed in this world!

Boring
Revisado: 05-17-24
the premise is interesting. but the author would have cut out all the repetive sex incidents of both the young lovers and their parents!! they don't add anything to the overall story. the plot is lost in all the meandering. too bad and too boring
