Delirium Tremens is a book that really surprised me. In the beginning, it appears to be a typical saloon style western, making the reader think it intends on remaining surface level emotionally but action packed and thrilling. However, the story and relationships develop in a way that is honest and exciting, and all together unexpected; like something out of a Jane Austen novel. But don’t expect the adventure to dull either.

The performance by the reader, Jeremiah James, is also surprising! He moves in and out of all the different characters like they had been living inside him forever - and there are quite a few! Each voice is unique and specific, which allows your ear to relax, knowing you will always be aware of who is speaking, since the book bounces between different narrators and has a lot of moving parts. I grew found of each character and when it was over, began to miss the sound of their voices, like missing old friends.

Overall, the story is fun and surprisingly touching, and I am excited to read more by this author and hear more by this reader!
