Historia
When you listen to this audiobook, you will make many assumptions. You will assume you are listening to a story about a jealous ex-wife. You will assume she is obsessed with her replacement - a beautiful, younger woman who is about to marry the man they both love. You will assume you know the anatomy of this tangled love triangle. Assume nothing. Twisted and deliciously chilling, The Wife Between Us exposes the secret complexities of an enviable marriage - and the dangerous truths we ignore in the name of love.

Too light for my taste
Revisado: 06-23-18
There were no real stakes - just a lot of making a big deal over nothing. The main character was flakey, easily thrown off balance, and her goals muddled. The narration and writing itself was great, but that doesn't compensate for a wishy washy protagonist.

Historia
An 11-year-old boy's violated corpse is found in a town park. Eyewitnesses and fingerprints point unmistakably to one of Flint City's most popular citizens. He is Terry Maitland, Little League coach, English teacher, husband, and father of two girls. Detective Ralph Anderson, whose son Maitland once coached, orders a quick and very public arrest. Maitland has an alibi, but Anderson and the district attorney soon add DNA evidence to go with the fingerprints and witnesses. Their case seems ironclad.

It was okay
Revisado: 06-12-18
Great story until the halfway point - when all of the characters collectively get together to come up with a plan. So tedious when characters keep repeating over and over what the reader already knows. Will Patton is such a skilled narrator that it's bearable. Liked the story overall, but so much of it could have been cut down.

Where are the clever twists I kept hearing about?
Revisado: 06-12-18
Best narration I've heard in ages, but nothing new here in terms of a crime story. It got pretty ludicrous at the end, but I'm going to assume that's what they were going for. Was entertaining, just didn't knock me over with brilliance or tension.

Historia
Amber Patterson is fed up. She's tired of being a nobody: a plain, invisible woman who blends into the background. She deserves more - a life of money and power like the one blond-haired, blue-eyed goddess Daphne Parrish takes for granted. To everyone in the exclusive town of Bishops Harbor, Connecticut, Daphne - a socialite and philanthropist - and her real-estate mogul husband, Jackson, are a couple straight out of a fairy tale. Amber's envy could eat her alive...if she didn't have a plan.

I've been disappointed with so many boring predictable so called thrillers lately. But this one hooked me in and kept me enthralled til the very end. Deliciously wicked!

Predictable ending ruined an otherwise great story
Revisado: 01-02-18
I thought this was one of the better thrillers out there. Fantastic narration, and just enough twists and turns to keep it interesting. But I figured out where it was going from the gitgo, which felt like a total rip off since I like to be blindsided by a big reveal at the end. I'm still going to try Croft's other books.

I don't usually like stories about romance and drama - but this one had enough twists and turns that I couldn't stop listening. The narrator was spot on. Highly recommend.

This takes audiobooks to a new high
Revisado: 03-06-17
What did you love best about 18 and Life on Skid Row?
I must say that I had never even heard of Sebastian Bach other than a brief yet memorable mention of him in Bobbie Brown's book - which intrigued me enough to buy this. I'd heard of Skid Row, but wasn't familiar with any of their songs - but after listening to this book I was inspired to listen to their music and loved it. They guy has got a voice! Not just in terms of a fantastic singing voice, but literally the way he tells a story.
What was one of the most memorable moments of 18 and Life on Skid Row?
His story about being a Kiss fan as a child, and where it all went with Ace Frehley was eye opening about the music industry. But the most hysterical moment was with Lars Ulrich at the Rainbow in LA - when Lars was jumping around telling everyone to come get Bach's autograph and photo, when he was clearly in no shape to see anyone. I love how all of those rock stars keep pranking each other.
Which character – as performed by Sebastian Bach – was your favorite?
Sebastian was the best and only character, and what a character.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It made me love a band that I never noticed as a teen, since I was into different kinds of music in the 80's. Never too late to go back in time and revisit much.

My new idol
Revisado: 08-18-16
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I was expecting just a bunch of funny stories about one nighters and hard partying. I was caught completely off guard by how personal and poignant these essays were. Not only in her personal struggles, but in how much time and dedication she'd put into her career before anyone had even heard of her. I had no idea, and I'm glad I've been set straight. This woman is a fighter, and her heart is always in the right place. And she is freaking hysterical. Fantastic book.

Could not stop listening!
Revisado: 03-31-16
If you could sum up Lust & Wonder in three words, what would they be?
Insightful. Entertaining. Inspiring.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Augusten, of course.
What about Augusten Burroughs’s performance did you like?
I have all of his audiobooks, so I suppose it's the familiarity of his voice. Aside from that, I love when he makes fun of an uptight/tedious person's take on things, like a couple taking an entire dinner party to describe opening a jar of pickles.
