I loved this book! I’ve discovered a new author I want to read more of! The relationship between Ruth and Lily was in a word beautiful. Also Jean’s character was much needed, to say the things no one else would say. Bravo!

I hope Ms Ng appreciates the irony of the fact that she lives in a country where she has the freedom to write such a hateful and shameful anti-USA book! My father,who was an immigrant to our country and was grateful everyday for the freedoms this country afforded him, would be horrified by this author’s take on who we are as a country! Yes there is shame in our past and our present. Please tell me what country doesn’t have sad and shameful elements to its past? If Ms Ng knows of such a country, perhaps she should go live there!

I so enjoyed this book, while recovering from knee replacement surgury. I started reading in the hospital, and continued reading and audible listening to it depending on circumstances. It was such a well written, human experience story! Added to a heartbreaking murder mystery. Quite the poignant ending.

This author is a master at understanding the human condition! Olive is in many ways a cold harsh woman, however she has the capacity to be so understanding of what we go through! I hope she finds true happiness! I’m rooting for her!

A Woman Who Settles For Less

Although I love almost all of this author’s books. This book, although beautifully written, disturbed me because of how little the main character accepts from the man she loves. It’s a story about being someone’s second fiddle. I kept waiting for her to find a good man who loved her above all else!
