It’s very clear that this story originates straight from her heart. No exaggeration nor made up stories from the past. To top it off her voice is smooth like a mango-banana-passion fruit-shake - with just the right amount of crunchy ice. And her clear pronunciation soothes your ear canals like the perfectly balmy wind, blowing at night time from the Andaman Sea.

Mr. Derulo provided great and simple advices as well as insights as to what real success requires. However, there was a bit too much raving about Tik Tok to my liking.

Also a little tip to Mr. Derulo regarding body and mind. The mind doesn’t control the body. It’s you who control your mind and therefore the body too. And you’re not your mind - nor your body. Don’t want to get too philosophical in this review but just ask yourself: who’s watching? If you’re able to observe your thoughts - that is your mind, then who’s watching? ;)

One of the best prison stories I’ve read/listened

Ms. Moore-Gilbert is an excellent story teller and most importantly a rebel! As an ex-prisoner myself I laughed out loud when she’s constantly putting up resistance which without doubt took the Iranians by surprise. The experience, of course, must’ve felt unbearable at times but the story shows that she adapted very quickly to the situation. I also liked that she chose to read it herself!

Where is the chase?

The series is named Chasing Ghislaine but strangely there is no chase to be found. Accordingly the name is misleading.

Generally the series is easy to listen. However there’s two major issues that needs to be addressed. First of all the conversation(s) with the editor sound fake. The reason for this is that in reality the conversation(s) is not really a conversation at all but rather a scripted dialogue meant to sound like a conversation. Secondly Vicky Ward’s need to apologise and explain the events at Vanity Fair and the “break-up” with one of the alleged victims of late Jeffrey Epstein are out of proportion. It’s almost as if the whole series is used as a vehicle for Vicky Ward’s personal need to apologise publicly. Such apology should’ve been left out of the series as there are some more appropriate channels to do just that.

Lastly the speculation regarding Ghislaines reasons not to a) flee out of USA and B) not to plead guilty are bordering on childish. As to the latter one should realise that the prospect of any jail time is unbearable thought to the majority of people. Furthermore any plea deals would most likely result in two digit sentence in any event and that alone to most of the people is incomprehensible.

Naive in the extreme

This must be the naivest fraud-story I have ever read. From the authors perspective the question is about a few tens of thousands of dollars. Insignificant amount of money even for the author – if she took a while to reflect. But as she doesn’t, she thinks that her story is of significance. However, it is this pocket change the story is about.

The book can be split into two. The first part is about trying to recover the peanuts. The second part starts when the author finally acknowledges that she’s been conned and immediately puts on a wannabe detectives’ hat. The story also involves folio-hat elements for example when the author ponders if her phones have been tapped.

Never in a million years would’ve I thought that with such a story one could make hundreds of thousands of dollars from book and tv-series deals.
