Historia
My fiancé brought me tea and scrambled eggs in bed that morning, and we snuggled together, talking about buying our rings, and about our perfect wedding next year. Then we headed into town. He held my hand and gazed at the ring I liked best, a smile spreading slowly over his face. Then a glass of bubbly to celebrate. I felt flushed, excited and ready for the rest of my life with the man I loved. We race to get on the train home. It screams to a halt and I run towards its open doors. Made it. I think he’s right behind me — but when I turn around, he’s gone.

A dreadful ending
Revisado: 01-15-25
The storyline was engaging and all the way through I found myself trying to guess who the villain was. I just found the ending disappointing and left the reader/listener hanging.

Historia
One misstep at a dinner party and the older man she's been staying with dismisses her with a ride to the train station and a ticket back to the city. With few resources, but a gift for navigating the desires of others, Alex stays on the island. She drifts like a ghost through the gated driveways and sun-blasted dunes of a rarefied world, trailing destruction in her wake. Taut, sensual and impossible to forget, The Guest captures the latent heat and potential danger of a summer that could go either way for a young woman teetering on the edge.

Still not sure
Revisado: 07-07-24
I don’t know whether to rate this 5 star or 1. When a book and its ending gets you googling then I think that the author probably did a good job. I just wish she’d actually explain it and stop all speculation. It was an uncomfortable listen because I wasn’t sure whether the main character was a victim or an offender but when the book ended I wished that I could get my money back on it!

Promising in the beginning - but disappointing
Revisado: 12-06-23
There had been a lot of social media hype around the book so I chose to buy it on audible. It was so promising at the beginning but by midway had deteriorated into a long-winded, repetitive and delusional diatribe. The lead character is an unlikeable narcissist and her thought process flawed and unbelievable. Very disappointing

Incomplete
Revisado: 11-11-23
This is almost a “cheat”. Whilst not an amazing book it was a lovely audible listen for a free book, and there were a couple of plot developments that I started to wonder where it was all going - which was good. The book then left me hanging. I am guessing that if I have to find out what happens I’ll have to buy the next book. An author that writes in this way is not one that I will be supporting in the future. It wasn’t even a cliff hanger - it just stopped.

Left me sceptical
Revisado: 08-07-23
I have wanted to read this for a number of years. I found so many holes in this story and couldn’t bear how highly that author seemed to think about himself. The book should be entitled “My 30 years on earth” because his purported time in heaven took up a very small section of the book.
Not once in heaven did the author see God or Jesus and his description of heaven was unbelievable. I couldn’t finish the book.

Josie Bianci was killed years ago on a train during a terrorist attack. Gone forever. It’s what her sister, Kit, an ER doctor in Santa Cruz, has always believed. Yet all it takes is a few heart-wrenching seconds to upend Kit’s world. Live coverage of a club fire in Auckland has captured the image of a woman stumbling through the smoke and debris. Her resemblance to Josie is unbelievable. And unmistakable. With it comes a flood of emotions - grief, loss, and anger - that Kit finally has a chance to put to rest: by finding the sister who’s been living a lie.

Weak plot
Revisado: 06-26-23
The summary of the book held so much potential, the narrator did a decent job but I thought the plot was weak and predictable and the sex scenes were excruciating - why authors think that sex is necessary in a novel, is a mystery.

Historia
Thirty-nine was a fantastic year. I was married to the man I loved. I had a body that worked without creaking. My grandma, who raised me, was still healthy, and life was pretty damned good. But as they say, all good things come to an end. One year later, I’m a widow. My joints are starting to ache. Gram is in the nursing home, and dead people think my home is some kind of supernatural bed-and-breakfast. Gluing body parts onto semi-transparent people has become a side job - deceased people I’m not even sure are actually there.

A lovely surprise
Revisado: 02-01-23
I downloaded this book for free on audible plus and had no great expectations because this is not my usual drama. It took me a while to get into because of the disturbingly high pitched voice of the narrator. I persevered and I am glad I did. Once I made sense of the storyline I found the book thoroughly entertaining and hilarious in parts. I will listen to the next one to see whether I can withstand the screechy narrator for another few hours.

Disappointing
Revisado: 01-26-23
After all the hype of the book I was disappointed. The overall storyline was underdeveloped and not much actually happened. Wouldn’t it be great if I could get my money back for all the steamy long drawn out sex scenes that I fast forwarded through and the many times that the characters thought about how much they loved each other. It lacked substance and then the ending had me waiting for something to happen. I think this book should rather be defined as a read for teens.

Historia
The definitive investigation into the greatest aviation mystery in history, with a startling hypothesis about who took the plane, where they took it, and how. On March 8, 2014, Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 disappeared. A year later, still no trace of the plane - or the 239 people onboard - has been found. But why? In The Plane That Wasn't There, science journalist and CNN aviation analyst Jeff Wise sweeps aside the conspiracy theories and misconceptions and lays out, with clear concision, just what we know about the plane's fate - and what we don't.
