Too short

An iconic, classic ghost story. The quality of writing is excellent, however the story itself is far too short. I wondered if I had bought a bad audiobook, as this only has two chapters which seems far too few to tell a compelling story. Perhaps this is due to the nature of story telling in the era it was written. We see no resolution to the plot, which fell very flat. With our main character’s encounter I was expecting the plot to be expanded to become more complex but then it was just.. over. It was very disappointing in that way, as the characters are well writen. But for a quick story to entertain kids for a little while, it works.

Slice of Life

I knew it was just a novella rather than a full length book, but I was still hoping for some action or rising tension. It didn’t really have that so I found it rather boring, but if you love the characters and want to see what they’re up to outside of the overarching plot of the series, here ya go! Otherwise, this one is probably pretty skippable, there’s longer and more exciting books to use your credits on.

Great Performance for a Mediocre Story

I wasn’t a big fan of the story…or maybe just the writing style. It’s rather vague in many spots where additional details would have made the scene more immersive. It’s mostly politics and I found it rather boring. This performance with the voice actors, music, and sound effects was really awesome though! But there are parts when the voice actors (specifically as I recall for the Baron) changing from scene to scene, convo to convo which is rather confusing.
All in all, glad I finally took the time to listen to this, but I will not be listening to the rest of the series.

Relatable and Intriguing!!

This book really explores the complexities of complicated at-home and sister relationships, and I related to it a lot. It makes you really think about things by letting you see both perspectives. The climax had me at the edge of my seat, and I loved the plot twists! I only wish there was a little more to the ending to see the reactions of other characters. I’m planning to listen to it over again to see if anything I missed sticks out!

A delightful adventure

Enjoyable from start to finish, with quick humor and fun characters. The voice actors, sound effects, and music were perfect additions for emersion, and I would most definitely listen again!

Bridges the gap

Overall i really feel like the plot here was pretty lacking and dull, especially following the dramatic climax of the previous series. Basically just Bramble having a hard time adjusting to being leader despite having been a steller deputy for years?? and being conveniently nearby every time someone's in trouble. but there's some pretty good scenes in there too, as well as character/relationship development. it also bridges the gap between Omen of the Stars and The Fourth Apprentice.

once you finish the book, i highly recommend visiting your local book store to read the manga short in the back of the book. it's really interesting and any warriors fan will love it.
