Historia
When Lydia takes a job running the Senior Citizens’ Social Club three afternoons a week, she assumes she’ll be spending her time drinking tea and playing gentle games of cards. The members of the Social Club, however, are not at all what Lydia was expecting. From Art, a failed actor turned kleptomaniac to Daphne, who has been hiding from her dark past for decades to Ruby, a Banksy-style knitter who gets revenge in yarn, these seniors look deceptively benign—but when age makes you invisible, secrets are so much easier to hide.

Love This Book!
Revisado: 07-13-24
This book is so funny, and also deeply touching. I’m grateful that the ending is so good. I’m in this age group and love hearing this story about others who live full lives.

Historia
When Brian Foley is charged with the murder of his next-door neighbour, the fastidious Arthur Cranham, it seems the case against the blustering showman is cut and dried: prints, DNA, CCTV footage - there can't be any doubt. After all - Brian and Arthur have famously been at war for years. But Jack and Sarah are convinced that the police have it wrong. With time running out, can they prove Brian's innocence and find the real killer? Set in the sleepy English village of Cherringham, the detective series brings together an unlikely sleuthing duo: English web designer Sarah and American ex-cop Jack.

Short mystery, directly to the point. I got another in this series, and I hope it’s as good as this one.

Historia
It's the Christmas season and veterinarian Kate Turner is not feeling very jolly. She's overworked, unappreciated, and dealing with two dissatisfied clients. Throw in a very complicated personal life and Kate's definitely got a case of the holiday blues. To make matters worse, Kate's ex-boyfriend, Jeremy, is mugged and robbed after they have a heated argument in the hospital parking lot. Then, two of her dissatisfied clients turn up dead (which really gets Kate's tinsel in a tangle). All of these events seem like coincidences, but they add up to something much more venomous.

A fun book
Revisado: 01-11-24
This book is well written and moves along smoothly. I love animals and there are plenty here. Dogs, cats, horses all have roles in this story. They aren’t super hero animals, only one got to step up and help at a crucial moment.
This is the second book I’ve read in this series and I enjoyed both of them. I have the rest of the series in my library.

Ordered by Mistake
Revisado: 02-10-23
Best mistake I’ve ever made. I almost immediately got caught up in the writer’s skill and enjoyed this often gruesome story. Not at all what I would usually read, but it’s based on fictional skills. It’s entertaining. I intend to try book 2.
I agree with others who disliked the brief musical interludes between chapters. They are distracting, and I was eager to continue reading.

Historia
Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing as an average woman. But it’s the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute takes a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant, Nobel–prize nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results.

Wonderful Book
Revisado: 10-12-22
This book isn’t what I was expecting, it was much better. It had humor, some ugly scenes of sexual abuse and harassment, a little mystery, a terrific dog, etc.
When i listened to the sample, I was eager to read the book, it turned out to be very different from what I expected. It’s funny in parts, terrifically sad, and disgusting to read and remember the sexism women had to deal with in the 50s and 60s. Elizabeth does not silently suffer through the bad treatment she deals with, she’s a strong woman.

Historia
When Trevor Hawkins hits the open road in his beat-up old camper van with his incorrigible dog, Milly, his quest for adventure soon spirals dangerously out of control. The simple act of flushing a hotel toilet transforms his life from redundant sales assistant to fugitive from a gang of psychopathic villains, the police, and MI5. Then there's private detective Sandra Gray, who could cheerfully throttle him for turning a well-paid, piece-of-cake job into a total nightmare. Or could she?

This book is a funny action story. I laughed out loud several times. Millie the dog was always getting into trouble, much like her owner. I hope there is another book with these characters.

Historia
The year 1920: Flying in the face of convention, legendary American adventuress Beryl Helliwell never fails to surprise and shock. The last thing her adoring public would expect is that she craves some peace and quiet. The humdrum hamlet of Walmsley Parva in the English countryside seems just the ticket. And, honestly, until America comes to its senses and repeals Prohibition, Beryl has no intention of returning stateside and subjecting herself to bathtub gin.

As Good As The Earlier Books In The Series
Revisado: 07-27-22
I read reviews by some readers who disliked this entry in this series. Their reviews were well written descriptions of what they disliked, which is totally understandable. We don’t all enjoy the same books, tv, or movies.
I almost decided to skip this book and go on to the next in the series, but I couldn’t resist trying it. I thoroughly enjoyed it, because it fits well into the story of these two women as they continue to run their detective agency.
There appears to be an inordinate number of murders in their little village, but I’m willing to go along with whatever these ladies get into.
The performer is perfect for this series.

Historia
The small village of Kilbane is hosting a poker tournament at the local pub, and card sharp Eamon Foley, a tinker out of Dublin, is set to win the tournament. But when Foley is found at the end of a rope, it’s time for the garda to take matters into their own hands. Macdara Flannery would lay odds it’s a simple suicide, but Siobhán suspects foul play, as does Foley’s pregnant widow.

Historia
Luc O'Donnell is tangentially - and reluctantly - famous. His rock-star parents split when he was young, and the father he's never met spent the next 20 years cruising in and out of rehab. Now that his dad's making a comeback, Luc's back in the public eye, and one compromising photo is enough to ruin everything. To clean up his image, Luc has to find a nice normal relationship...and Oliver Blackwood is as nice and normal as they come. He's a barrister, an ethical vegetarian, and someone who has never inspired a moment of scandal in his life. He’s perfect boyfriend material.

But I loved this book. It was LOL funny in spots. The two main characters were interesting, and each had their own individual personalities.
I’m glad I took the chance and ordered this book.
