For those of us who routinely fail to read and consider those too-long and sometimes incomprehensible terms and conditions when installing this week's must-have app, or answering last week's popular online survey, and even more importantly, those of us who don't realize the danger of data aggregation and how it impacts our privacy today, "Cyber Privacy: Who Has Your Data and Why You Should Care" should serve as a wake-up call.

By tapping into traditions of meditation and mindfulness, author and spiritual teacher Michael A. Singer shows how the development of consciousness can enable us all to dwell in the present moment and let go of painful thoughts and memories that keep us from achieving happiness and self-realization.

When Fortune 500 companies need to reenergize or reinvent a lagging brand, they call Steve Stoute. In addition to marrying cultural icons with blue-chip, Stoute has helped identify and activate a new generation of consumers. It is a straightforward, practical, and insightful read that I found quite helpful. He argues that the most lasting changes occur when they are linked to our identity, because “Behind every system of action is a system of beliefs”. He adds, “Behavior that is incongruent with the self will not last”. He continues, “Improvements are only temporary until they become part of who you are”

If you’re listening to this book, chances are it’s for one of two reasons. Either you have a sneaking suspicion that you’re getting in your own way, or someone has pointed out a pattern of behavior that you don’t particularly like. This book is short enought to be used as a daily reminder of what to do on your journey.

A stellar book I would recommend to anyone interested in trauma, mental health, or science in general. The author infuses empirical, innovative research with hands-on clinical experience to explain trauma in a clear, authentic way.
