Was What's My Line TV star, media icon, and crack investigative reporter and journalist Dorothy Kilgallen murdered for writing a tell-all book about the JFK assassination? If so, is the main suspect in her death still at large? These questions and more are answered in former CNN, ESPN, and USA Today legal analyst Mark Shaw's 25th book, The Reporter Who Knew Too Much.

Fast Paced - Journalistic Style
Revisado: 07-17-24
A great, fast paced story. Shaw ties many different sources together in a seamless narrative that communicates the personality, professionalism and attitude of one of the most important New journalists of the time. Shaw tells Dorothy’s story by uncovering and reporting the events she uncovered without it seeming overly sterile or sordid.
Special shout out and standing ovation to the Narrator, Gabra Zackman. She was a true “voice artist”, and made a huge difference in my ability to enjoy and relish this book. I usually disdain books narrated by women - not this time. Just the opposite. I’m going to be searching for more audiobooks narrated by her. She brought the story to life - she did a great job of representing many male and female personalities - during their different emotions.

Historia
Man’s Search for Meaning is the chilling yet inspirational story of Viktor Frankl’s struggle to hold on to hope during the unspeakable horrors of his years as a prisoner in Nazi concentration camps. Between 1942 and 1945 Frankl labored in four different camps, including Auschwitz, while his parents, brother, and pregnant wife perished. Based on his own experience and the experiences of those he treated in his practice, Frankl argues that we cannot avoid suffering, but we can choose how to cope with it, find meaning in it, and move forward with renewed purpose.

Rich Dad Poor Dad is Robert's story of growing up with two dads - his real father and the father of his best friend, his rich dad - and the ways in which both men shaped his thoughts about money and investing. The book explodes the myth that you need to earn a high income to be rich and explains the difference between working for money and having your money work for you. In the 20th anniversary edition of this classic, Robert offers an update on what we’ve seen over the past 20 years related to money, investing, and the global economy.

A lot of fluff
Revisado: 11-15-22
I really enjoy Mr. K on TV interviews - maybe it's because this is his first book, but I found it too fluffy. I guess if you don't understand finance it's a good book, but if you do understand investments - there's not much meat on the bones.

Separated by vast gulfs of political, cultural, and philosophical divergence, the three chief Allied nations of World War II - the United States, the Soviet Union, and Great Britain - attempted to formulate a joint policy through a series of three conferences during and immediately after the conflict. The first meeting took place in Tehran in late 1943, while the fate of World War II still hung in the balance. The fate of World War II hung in the balance in 1943.

Nothing New Here
Revisado: 07-29-22
I was hopeful that this book would provide more insight into what FDR, Truman, Churchill and Stalin were expecting from these meetings. Sadly, it just covers what appears to come from public reports. Too much time is spent on logistic info - like what the had for dinner, than motivations. There was no discussion of FDR meeting with the king of Saud, not inclusion of the China delegation.

Do you think your father might be toxic? Many people do and sadly there is very little information available to be found online or in the written research, or with counsellors and therapists that can help. Narcissistic Victim Syndrome is not officially recognised, nor is it widely even known. Even when it is accepted, recognised, and known not many people seem to know what to do about it to heal it. This audioook is for you if you have been in a toxic relationship with your parent and you just want to make sense of it and make some changes.

For Daughters, more that Sons
Revisado: 09-20-21
I am the son of a Narcissistic Father. I found this book to be really written for the daughters. Sons are very rarely mentioned -other than as siblings of the daughter victim. Perhaps what the author is saying is pertinent for sons, but she cannot know, since she's writing primarily as the daughter of the NPD father. I think it was misleading to (sub) title this book for being the "Son or Daughter of a Narcissistic Parent...." Maybe it was the publisher that drove that decision. So, I don't want to take anything away from the author. I think she does an excellent job of covering the relationship from the perspective of a daughter. However, until I see the same book written from the perspective (and by) a son of an NPD father, I have my doubts. My experience as the son of an NPD father is different that was described in this book - but I cannot tell if that's because I'm a son (not a daughter), or some other complexity. I dropped one star from my review because of that.
There's one thing that I can be sure of - the recommended approach to dealing with a NPD father (or mother) is the same, whether your a son or a daughter - severe all ties with the toxic parent - and/or limit all communications. Protect your personal (and family's personal) information and goings-on.

Fulton J. Sheen - bishop, scholar, professor, radio and television personality, and writer - spent his life sharing the Word of God with millions of Christians across the world. One of his best-known works is The Life of Christ, written in 1954. This book explores the foretelling of Christ's birth, his life, temptations, death, and resurrection. But while Sheen himself was a scholar and an academic, his recounting is both listenable and accessible to the layperson.

NOT THE SAME AS THE BOOK. VERY DIFFERENT
Revisado: 04-19-21
I greatly enjoyed the written version of this book. I've been waiting for years for an audible version - and had great anticipation for it. However, I was highly disappointed. All they needed to do is have someone read the book - but this seems like an introduction to some of the chapters - without a majority of the actual book. It's really false advertising to call this an audible version of the book.

Complex questions made real and palpable
Revisado: 01-24-20
Mr Davis did a great job with this material - presenting it with pacing and tone than made it so enjoyable.
The story and theme are both simple and complex - presented in very understandable prose and a great story that seems contemporary.
Viewed purely as a story of a man who commits a serious crime, and his prosecution - this seems very much like a story you’d see on a cops/legal tv show today - but the underlying themes are so much more.
I’m sure the thoughts inspired in the story by Camus will take some time to germinate within me.

Where have you been all my life?
Revisado: 08-23-19
This book/audio is me. So many times I shook my head in wonder, while listening - no other book has ever understood me as this. This book has really been a gift to me.
It's not as long as I'd like - but it's packed with info - it get's right to the meat - no BS about what is MBTI, etc. It is 32 min. of right-on-the-money analysis. If you're an INFP and wonder why you are who you are - this is enlightment.
I would gladly pay for a part 2 - where it tells me how to find a job I value as an INFP.

Literature - as a reflection of US maturation.
Revisado: 07-06-19
The good - many classic American novels covered. Presented chronologically - in their particularly period of creation. I feel I know a lot more about the books discussed - I'd ready about 75% of the list covered.
The not so good - due to the limited time for each, the Professor really just provides the context and place in time and history when the book was written. So, you don't really get an analysis of the plot, as much as you get why the novel was written at that point in history.
We do get the full analysis of books like Catch 22 and Catcher in the Rye. So, for several you get a full analysis, but not really all of them.
Prof. does a great job of holding up a mirror against the maturation of the US, as it reflects in the pages of best selling literature.
