Historia
A daring new vision of quantum theory from one of the leading minds of contemporary physics. In Einstein's Unfinished Revolution, theoretical physicist Lee Smolin provocatively argues that the problems that have bedeviled quantum physics since its inception are unsolved and unsolvable, for the simple reason that the theory is incomplete.

Boring
Revisado: 03-07-25
I was excited about this book, but after a few hours of listening to this monotonous female voice with an inexplicable British accent, it was too annoying to continue. One of the most disappointing reads in my 30 years with Audible.

A Little Deception in the Performance
Revisado: 06-21-24
The sturdy, well-enunciated narration made for a smooth easy listen, except for some flaws leading me to suspect that Angelo Di Loreto is actually an automated voice and a very good one. But after suffering through numerous and obvious mispronunciations, it's hard to believe that any human professional would repeatedly say Leslie "Karen" in place of Leslie Caron along with others. No problem with automated voices, as long as they're not stolen, but the producers need to do a better job of cleaning up mistakes.

Historia
Dover Station, Montana, is no place for a lawman. A sheriff's badge ain't worth a nickel here - unless you've got the bullets to back it up. When he signed up to be sheriff of this dirty little boomtown, Aaron Mackey knew he was asking for trouble. Once, when Mackey was the US marshal for the whole Montana Territory, he swore no job could get any harder. But that was before he took down a few of the bank-robbing Hancock gang in Dover Station - and incurred the wrath of the gang's maniacal matriarch, Mad Nellie Hancock.

Terrence McCauley’s gift for narrative is complimented with improving character development. He brings out the good versus evil conflict with clarity without shortcuts. Like the very best writers, he knows how to close.

How did a boy from small-town New York become the world’s most successful writer? How does he do it? He has always wanted to write the kind of novel that would be read and reread so many times that the binding breaks and the book literally falls apart. As he says, “I’m still working on that one.”

Well, maybe a couple, but there’s little pretense either. The world’s bestselling author comes off as someone you’d love meeting up with on adjacent bar stools. Not only is he a great storyteller, he’s also genuinely interested in you.

A rash of deadly train robberies has the chief investor of Dover Station feeling itchier than a quick draw without a target. And he wants Sheriff Aaron Mackey to scratch that itch with every bullet his battered badge authorizes him to shoot. When Mackey and his backup gun down four kill-crazy bandits, they uncover a plot cooked up by respected citizens of Dover Station - someone who can pull enough strings to replace Mackey with a disgraced marshal from Texas.

Historia
This audiobook could best be described as a lab manual with simple experiments that prove reality is malleable, consciousness trumps matter, and you shape your life with your mind. Yes, you read that right. It says prove. The nine experiments, each of which can be conducted with absolutely no money and very little time expenditure, demonstrate that spiritual principles are as dependable as gravity, as consistent as Newton's laws of motion.

Big Disappointment
Revisado: 09-14-19
I love Pam Grout's books, but this one's a bomb. It has all the markings of a publisher demanded sequel, including name-dropping other Hay House writers. This essentially works to discredit Grout when she shills for the likes of Esther Hicks.
What made me delete this book, however, after less than an hour, was the absence of Grout's usual whimsy. It's replaced by the rote self-help mantras about how everyone gets it wrong and is suffering and, guess what, I can show you how to fix it. The formula is tried and true, of course, but it's not Grout's style. What a waste of talent.
From original and witty to pedantic and same old, same old.

Historia
Jimmy Webb's words have been sung to his music by a rich and deep roster of pop artists, including Glen Campbell, Art Garfunkel, Frank Sinatra, Donna Summer, and Linda Ronstadt. He's the only artist ever to win Grammy Awards for music, lyrics, and orchestration, and his chart-topping career has, so far, lasted 50 years, most recently with a Kanye West rap hit and a new classical nocturne. Now Webb delivers a snapshot of his life from 1955 to 1970, from the proverbial humble beginnings into a moneyed and manic international world of beautiful women, drugs, cars, and planes.

One of the Best
Revisado: 01-12-19
As Jimmy Webb said in interviews after publication, this was a painful story to write, so much so that he may never do a sequel. Read by Webb himself, it's genuine, heartfelt and true to the point of being raw exposure at times. Not only does Webb bring his large literary gifts to the work, but his honesty in introspection and personal discovery is stunning.
In many ways, this book reminds me of what made me want to write books, the suggestion by Henry Miller in the forward to Tropic of Cancer that true personal stories, full of experience and insight, were the seeds of great novels.
This book, including its many surprising stories of other celebrities engaged in the late 60s and early 70s, will stick with me. What I missed reading about was what was probably most intimate, his love for his mother who died while Jimmy was a teen, and how she's stuck with him since, inspiring at least one great song. That might have gotten just a little too personal.

Although this audiobook was not without helpful ideas for anyone, it's geared more toward beginners, a worthy approach, but if you've been at it for a few years, you'll hear a lot of what you already know. Totally credible, but not advanced generally.

Disappointing loose with facts
Revisado: 11-30-18
I was skeptical to begin with - Reality Unveiled... Really? It's a nonsense suggestion. Reality isn't veiled. It's extraordinarily complicated, and we don't know nearly enough about it to be satisfied. But veiled suggests something hidden, not simply undiscovered. And true to that, Masri suggests repeatedly scientific conspiracies and "corporate scientists" determined to hide the truth for what he suggests are obvious reasons without explaining what they are.
That's unfortunate, because there's a fair amount of interesting reading here, especially when it comes to UFOs, but that does not make numerous uses of untrue claims acceptable.
In creating a mystery that doesn't exist, for example, Masri claims that Neanderthals suddenly disappeared. In reality, it was a transition of thousands of years in which they were partially absorbed into modern human societies as they died out as many species have had when overwhelmed by a competing culture. They left their marks, however, breading with homo sapiens, leaving their genetic signature in modern humans around the world.
Masri claims it's a big mystery. It isn't.
That's just an example, and there are others. Together, they beg the question: if you've got a valuable case to make, why make up stuff to sell it?
I quit this book without finishing because I couldn't take being conned anymore.
