I had to listen to this at 2x because the narrator read very slow. it is an awakening for a a young woman, but it's like she is on shrooms the whole time. pretty slow.

Eh... could have been good

The premise is pretty solid but the MC is just too much to maintain suspension of disbelief. The MC is supposed to be this Elite Special Operations type, but does stuff that is just unbelievablly stupid. It moved the story along so I put up with it but there was a point at which I had enough given that the MC forgot about this super import event and quest item that a good chunk of story was dedicated too so that he could say something stupid, again.

Then there is the LitRPG. This book would work much better if the author hadn't thrown in levels. The MC is basically level nothing fighting Lovecraftian hell monsters with 40 plus levels on him. There is fighting above your level and then there is, NOPE. I've read LitRPG that pulls it off, but this book does not.

The narrator is good, but so slow. I had to speed it up but kept it to 1.5x so I could hear the differences in the voices. Armen Taylor is a great voice actor, but reads so slow....

It had potential, but I do not recommend this book.

Ending sucks

RC Bray is awesome, as always! The books are actually pretty great right up until the end. The endings are pretty much a big ole F your happy ending. Listening to these books is like getting to third base and then getting friendzoned.

It really is a bummer because the writing is solid. The story is good, but the ending just leaves me disappointed. I want to know how the story continues, but I know the endings are just going to ruin the rest of the book.

I don't like the audio dramas in general, but I decided to get this one because I didn't want to miss out on anything from the series. After listening to maybe an hour of it, I just couldn't take any more. The sound effects wash the audio quality and character voices out, some serious characters like Smyth are relegated to comedic and undisciplined sidekicks...

I think the producers wanted to make it more appealing to a broader audience and ended up screwing the pooch.

I'm requesting a refund.

I really like this series. This book is good, but it has a lot of social justice and woke lecturing... that being said, it is definitely worth the credit! I was unhappy with the ending to this book, but it does leave you wanting to get the next in the series!

This was a great story and a great series. I hated the ending, but it is still worth reading or listening to. There is a lot of science that is just made up, but just go with it, and you'll enjoy the ride.

I loved this series, I'm sad it is over. I highly recommend this series. I will say that it is more of a drama in a scifi setting than scifi.
