Good story. Just wish there was less “fowl” language

I really enjoyed this. Very good story. Good plot, likable characters and a happy ending. I only wish the author didn’t have the main character swearing so much in the first half of the story.

There will be many who disagree with me writing this review, but I feel I need to.

I bought this book and began listening to it after I read a number of reviews that said it was fairly PG rated for not having any gratuitous sex or excessive foul language. While I didn't find any sex in the book, 2 hours in and there were already 3 f*$# and numerous other cursing. To a degree, this is authentic. While, everyone knows that swearing is common in the military, people should be aware of what "negative" content a book or story contains. This review is solely intended to correct the other reviews that claim this book is PG or "clean".

One of the best works of fiction.

Whether you like fantasy or not, this is the beginning of one of the best works of fiction ever written. A deep dive into who people are and what they will do given various events and circumstances. As we follow the characters introduced in this first novel, we get a glimpse into what makes us all unique.

Good clean Mil-SciFi

Great series so far. I love that they've kept the action while not neglecting the character development. I also love that they've kept it clean of all foul language and sex.

True epic fantasy

I enjoyed this book, even though it was a bit “wordy” for my tastes. However, if you are fan of true traditional epic fantasy (i.e. Lord of the Rings), this book is for you. The author brilliantly leaves little open for personal interpretation by providing extensive descriptions of settings, characters and character thoughts/emotions without making it feel like he was “trying too hard”.

Disappointed!

Just had to throw in a profanity - so unnecessary! Although this is also a romance novel, it was much sappier than the others in this series. Preferred the cleaner ones so much more.
