Historia
This book was composed by St. Alphonsus Liguori during a time of criticism of Marian devotions. St. Liguori brings his considerable knowledge of Scripture and the Church Fathers to bear on the issue, showing their devoted support of the Virgin Mary. St. Liguori also includes the Marian prayers and practices that he is familiar with.

Perfect Narrator
Revisado: 08-27-23
Of course, the continent is sterling, as it from another doctor of the church. I want to speak to the narration, which I think was perfect. Narrator was excellent, he had the right tone, neurite timber, rate piece. Everything. Highly recommended. And, of course, pray the rosary every day!

Extraordinary Story
Revisado: 01-26-23
26 years behind bars. For probably 99% of the prison population, that would produce a hardened, angry and bitter criminal. For Michael Santos, however, it enabled him to be his best self, and come out of prison with a great life ahead prepped and ready to go.
One note: Santos does all the reading, and he’s not a perfect reader. He makes not infrequent mistakes. But it it adds to the charm of the story.

Historia
Decades before the American Revolution, Benjamin Franklin lamented that English settlers were constantly fleeing over to the Indians - but Indians almost never did the same. Tribal society has been exerting an almost gravitational pull on Westerners for hundreds of years, and the reason lies deep in our evolutionary past as a communal species. The most recent example of that attraction is combat veterans who come home to find themselves missing the incredibly intimate bonds of platoon life.

Disappointing
Revisado: 03-14-20
This book was really disappointing. I thought the author would talk about how we can build community by looking at the example of Native Americans. Instead it was mostly an amateurish ethnographic study of Native American populations, with a little political commentary thrown in here and there. What a waste of time and money to listen to this audiobook.

Great Information, Awesome Narration
Revisado: 07-18-18
Dr. Fung truly unlocks the obesity code in this book, and the narration by Brian Nishii is fantastic. You won't go wrong by purchasing this audio book. (p.s., do not buy Dr. Fung's "The Complete Guide to Fasting" -- the narration is terrible (nasal to the extreme) and it's no more than a collection of articles and blog posts from various people. Redundant and hard to follow).

Disappointed! Terrible Narration; Awful Organizati
Revisado: 07-18-18
Terribly disappointed. I first listened to Dr. Fung's "The Obesity Code", narrated by Brian Nishii -- it was WONDERFUL! Amazing narration, and the book was well-organized and filled with great information.
In contrast, "The Complete Guide to Fasting" has a terrible narrator -- Jimmy Moore. OMG, that man's nasal voice was grating to the extreme. And the book itself is no more than a hodgepodge of articles and blog posts by various people in the field. I thought I was purchasing a book by Dr. Fung. He's got some of his content in there, but so do a half dozen other people. Consequently, the material is REPETITIVE.
Ugh. Do NOT buy this audio book.

The reader was amazing. He used several voices that throughout the book seem to come from different people. The story itself was fantastic. Overall an outstanding performance and a wonderful work of fiction. 25 hours is a long time, but it passed quickly.

Here is Trump in action—how he runs his organization and how he runs his life—as he meets the people he needs to meet, chats with family and friends, clashes with enemies, and challenges conventional thinking. But even a maverick plays by rules, and Trump has formulated time-tested guidelines for success. He isolates the common elements in his greatest accomplishments; he shatters myths; he names names, spells out the zeros, and fully reveals the deal-maker's art. And throughout, Trump talks—really talks—about how he does it.

Great Book, Great Narrator
Revisado: 10-06-17
Trump writes a great story of his early years about 30 years ago. It shows that Donald Trump is in many ways as a say man today that he was 30 years ago. When you see Trump on television that's the man he is. It's not put on for show. And the narrator was fantastic. Many times I forgot that it wasn't Trump narrating the book.

It's Not About Simplicity
Revisado: 03-07-15
Any additional comments?
This book is mistitled. It's about Christian charity and giving, which is a fine message, but not why I bought the audio book. Almost all of the book provides a Biblical basis for helping our Christian brothers and sisters, but just about none of it how to achieve simplicity. This was a disappointment. The message is great. It's just not about simplicity.

Historia
The benefits of living in a digital, globalized society are enormous; so too are the dangers. The world has become a law enforcer’s nightmare and every criminal’s dream. We bank online; shop online; date, learn, work and live online. But have the institutions that keep us safe on the streets learned to protect us in the burgeoning digital world? Have we become complacent about our personal security—sharing our thoughts, beliefs and the details of our daily lives with anyone who might care to relieve us of them?

Long, Dull & Out-of-Date
Revisado: 02-03-15
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
Should have been clear it's a historical review. In the cyberworld, something that's five years old is ancient history. It had no current value. Also, it was read very slowly and the stories seemed disjointed. Struggled to finish the whole thing.
Has DarkMarket turned you off from other books in this genre?
No. I'll just read the reviews more carefully from now on.
What didn’t you like about Jonathan Cowley’s performance?
English pronunciations and Britishisms were annoying in such a long book. He read a bit too slowly too.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from DarkMarket?
Loosely, it was a history of the Dark Market. The title was misleading: it wasn't about "You" (that is, us, the readers) at all.
Any additional comments?
Waste of money/credits.
