Just Listen
Revisado: 07-04-21
loved it from the first word to the last. Willie Nelson is an American treasure. I can't wait to listen again and again. He and I don't know each other, but we sure agree on much. Listen with an open mind. Let the words and opinions ferment for a bit. See if you can agree as well.

Disregard The Negative Comments
Revisado: 12-24-20
I've never been one to let someone else dictate what I should or shouldn't do. Negative reviews tell me I need to hear this because they didn't get it. I'm so glad I wasn't limited by their shortcoming.
Mr. Ruiz is giving great information. If, as some reviewers claimed, this is all "common sense" then why, pray tell, are we living in chaos, hate, violence and un-common sense? In case you haven't been paying attention the last four decades, common sense is no longer common.
Mr. Ruiz is passing out gold star information. Listen or read it. Let it simmer in your soul. Once it is heard by your ears and heart it is extremely freeing. I had that "DUH!" moment more than once. Yes, this seems so simple it should be common sense. It isn't. It is deep and entrenching even though it's simple. Do yourself and those around you in society a favor: listen more than once. This wonderful book is short and a quick listen. Let it change your preconceived notions and make each of us more loving, accepting and joyful. Find your hope and find your smile again.

WOW
Revisado: 07-14-18
Dick Gregory is a little before my time, but I remember him. I had no idea this unassuming man, in my experience, had such a wonderfully interesting life! His experiences alone brought tears to my eyes and anger to my heart. His philosophies and his research completely blew my mind. I'll admit I felt small and stupid as he revealed the black history I, as a white person, had never been privy to. I was disgusted with America. I was disgusted with nationalism. I am disgusted by the repeated lie of white supremacy. Dick Gregory's book is a must read for every person on the planet! It should be required reading in all high schools. History, as it is being white washed and taught to our youth, is a lie. The victor writes history. Don't let them win.

Eye Opening
Revisado: 02-03-18
I love Wanda Sykes. That was foremost why I listened to this speech.
I consider myself a SJW. I have stood up for equal rights since 1983. I was 13 years old. I thought I had open eyes on the injustices of a country rigged against anyone not white. The language the Reverend uses is cunningly explosive and hit me hard in my heart and soul. What I thought I knew was merely a dusting. The good Reverend enlightened my spirit on the complete power of a spoken word sans violence. Violence is a weak person's tool. I am awed and humbled by his speech. I hope everyone who has the ability will listen and take his words to heart.

The History of White People

Historia
A mind-expanding and myth-destroying exploration of notions of white race—not merely a skin color but also a signal of power, prestige, and beauty to be withheld and granted selectively. Ever since the Enlightenment, race theory and its inevitable partner, racism, have followed a crooked road, constructed by dominant peoples to justify their domination of others. Filling a huge gap in historical literature that long focused on the non-white, eminent historian Nell Irvin Painter guides us through more than two thousand years of Western civilization, tracing not only the invention of the idea of race but also the frequent worship of “whiteness” for economic, social, scientific, and political ends.

The information is droll. The reader sounds mechanical. The subject matter is sad and alarming. It makes no sense to me that so much harm has come from so many man-made constructs.

Great Minds of the Eastern Intellectual Tradition

Historia
Western philosophy is a vast intellectual tradition, the product of thousands of years of revolutionary thought built up by a rich collection of brilliant minds. But to understand the Western intellectual tradition is to get only half the story. The Eastern intellectual tradition has made just as important a contribution-and is also the product of thousands of years of cumulative thought by a distinct group of brilliant thinkers. Their ideas demonstrate wholly different ways of approaching and solving the same fundamental issues that concerned the West's greatest thinkers, such as . the existence of God; . the meaning of life; and. the nature of truth and reality. This epic and comprehensive 36-lecture examination of the East's most influential philosophers and thinkers-from a much-honored teacher and scholar-offers a thought-provoking look at the surprising connections and differences between East and West. By introducing you to the people-including The Buddha, Ashoka, Prince Shotoku, Confucius, and Gandhi-responsible for molding Asian philosophy and for giving birth to a wide variety of spiritual and ideological systems, it will strengthen your knowledge of cultures that play increasingly important roles in our globalized 21st-century world.

Although the courts have struggled to balance the interests of individuals, businesses, and law enforcement, the proliferation of intrusive new technologies puts many of our presumed freedoms in legal limbo. For instance, it's not hard to envision a day when websites such as Facebook or Google Maps introduce a feature that allows real-time tracking of anyone you want, based on face-recognition software and ubiquitous live video feeds.

And in this bold 24-lecture series, you can do just that.
