Historia
Set roughly half a century in the future on the artificial-island arcology of New Avalon, Tangent Knights centers on Corazón “Cory” Kagami, a bright but impulsive college student who believes in following her passions, resisting the path laid out for her by her mother, the head of a tech conglomerate responsible for astonishing breakthroughs. When Cory is accidentally imbued with an extraordinary powerful “phase armor” during a botched experiment, she defies the expectations of those who underestimated her and readily embraces a superheroic role as Tangent Knight Caprice.

The entire cast and humor make a great listen
Revisado: 02-05-24
Cast give a 5 star performance. I laughed and smirked as the story unfolded in the first book so it's 5 star. The second and third book are good but not great, so it's a 4 star rating. They didn't have as much humor and a few minor issues with one of the characters. If you don't find parts of story funny it will likely be just an average book. A hint, (no spoilers), to the kind of humor I found and enjoyed: Superhero humor like you would find in Deadpool II but more subtle with a anime flavor.

Historia
John Cutter, a human in a predominantly non-human city, turns out to be not quite as human as he gave himself credit for. His daily life gets turned upside down when he begins developing strange powers, and before you know it, he's romantically entangled with way too many girls. (Seriously Virgil, what were you thinking?)

Boring Harem Porn
Revisado: 08-07-23
The one thing I liked about the story was the setting up of the world. There was potential for sexual chemistry and sexy hijinks.
The biggest failing I found was lack of development the XX chromosome characters. They were more like different plastic sex dolls than individual women. The MC incubus powers were just so over powered that the females had no agency. These problems make the numerous sex scenes boring. I recommend "Good Intentions" which has a developed plot, great writing and fun world building along with numerous exciting sex scenes.

Boring & unmoral MC
Revisado: 07-14-23
The good: Narration is fine with understandable voices for each individual. I did like the world building it was different enough from other fantasy stories.
The bad: The main character was passive in both worlds. Good and bad events just fall upon the MC. (not a spoiler) If a person inherited some land and gold was discovered making them rich and then someone robs them.
The Ugly: The only point to the novel is the MC becomes rich or powerful so he can do what he wants to others in the different cultures and often these actions are evil. I did not enjoy the MC point of view.

Complex characters with imaginative world building
Revisado: 01-09-23
Who do you trust when you have been hurt? It's a difficult question to answer when their are complicated characters to assess. This mystery is what makes this novel compelling for me. There are jerks who are on the good side. There are friends who want to help you but have lives, duties and their own backstories. There are smooth talkers saying what you want to hear. And their are ones who are on the bad side driven by their own tragic backstory. Enjoyable!

Distinct characters & creative world = super novel
Revisado: 02-22-22
The character are developed subtly. We meet them and just start with hints. They are flushed out with actions, conversations and backstory slowly throughout the plot. The best part of the world building was a supernatural power balanced with unique consequences.

Quality YA fantasy novel

If you are still in touch with your inner child and enjoy magical fantasy stories I would recommend this book.
It's audience is young adult. The reason this story is youth oriented is the perspective of the three main tween characters.

Dan the cliche barbarian
Revisado: 02-20-22
What I enjoyed most about the book is world created.
It is a mix of modern and pure fantasy it gives the story an original feel.
The narrator is good except for one voice which was annoying but it was a minor part.
This issue I have with the storytelling is the characters. They are too simple and unreal.
Repeating she has big boobs does not make sexual chemistry.

Historia
Captain Rick Galloway and his men had been talked into volunteering for a dangerous mission only to be ruthlessly abandoned when faceless CIA higher-ups pulled the plug on the operation. They were cut off in hostile territory, with local troops and their Cuban “advisors” rapidly closing in - and then the alien spaceship landed. Rescued from certain death, they now must fight another world’s war.

Midevial battles in a SiFi world.
Revisado: 01-24-22
I almost gave up on the beginning of this story it seemed so strait forward. I am happy that I continued because there are so many mysteries and cultures clashing to bring the novel alive. Much of the wonder of "what if" are SiFi conflicts taking place in the story with weapons that contain swords & armor; guns & gunpowder; to advanced alien ones.

Historia
Touched by a very public tragedy, musician Rob Quillen comes to Cloud County, Tennessee, in search of a song that might ease his aching heart. All he knows of the mysterious and reclusive Tufa is what he has read on the Internet: They are an enigmatic clan of swarthy, black-haired mountain people whose historical roots are lost in myth and controversy. Some say that when the first white settlers came to the Appalachians centuries ago, they found the Tufa already there. Others hint that Tufa blood brings special gifts....

Worldbuilding gives a solid second book
Revisado: 01-24-22
I enjoyed this second novel because of the various characters that make a community. The Tufa have their own culture along that attempts to be separate within the modern world. This story is not main character led but a ensemble cast living and balancing two traditions.
