Historia
Scarlett Vandermeer is swimming upstream. A Junior at Stanford and a student-athlete who specializes in platform diving, Scarlett prefers to keep her head down, concentrating on getting into med school and on recovering from the injury. She has no time for relationships. Swim captain, world champion, all-around aquatics golden boy Lukas Blomqvist thrives on discipline. It’s how he wins gold medals and breaks records: complete focus, with every stroke. On the surface, Lukas and Scarlett have nothing in common. Until a well-guarded secret slips out, and everything changes.

Ugh
Revisado: 02-21-25
Ugh, I found this book unlikable but unfortunately entertaining just because it was an audio. Both voice actors are talented but sound old af, like they would be better cast as parents explaining how to navigate your first period. Characters lacked chemistry, FMC character was irksome.

Zo Grey is reeling from the sudden death of her mother when she receives a surprising call from an attorney in Divinity, Louisiana, with the news she has been left an inheritance by a distant relative, the terms of which he will only discuss in person. Destitute and alone, with nothing left to lose, Zo heads to Divinity and discovers she is the sole beneficiary of a huge fortune and a monstrosity of a house that sits ominously at the peak of Watch Hill—but she must live in it, alone, for three years before the house, or the money, is hers.

Great Audio Performance But No Plot
Revisado: 01-26-25
Excellently performed audio that I enjoyed all the way through but the book itself had little plot and I felt like not much happened and the story had not a ton of chemistry. And I'm a huge KMM fan.

Historia
Everyone expected Violet Sorrengail to die during her first year at Basgiath War College-Violet included. But Threshing was only the first impossible test meant to weed out the weak-willed, the unworthy, and the unlucky. Now the real training begins, and Violet’s already wondering how she’ll get through. It’s not just that it’s grueling and maliciously brutal, or even that it’s designed to stretch the riders’ capacity for pain beyond endurance. It’s the new vice commandant, who’s made it his personal mission to teach Violet exactly how powerless she is–unless she betrays the man she loves.

Irritating Audio, Read as YA
Revisado: 01-22-25
Audio performance was so irritating, I couldn't finish and it hurt to make it through the 8 hrs of listening I did. this audiobook performer was the wrong casting choice and it made me sad with Violet was so poorly portrayed and all chemistry with Xaden ruined. i also felt the writing was sophomoric though I've read the first book twice and my cousins told me to stick with this one to the cliffhanger and I wanted to finish the series with the new book out. Just terrible way to spend $15.

Historia
She was born to be a queen, yet she’s nothing more than a political pawn. With no name and no place to call her own, she’s doing her best to hold on to the only thing that belongs to her and her alone—her soul. A difficult task, given that she was kept alive for the sole purpose of being given to the formidable King Rowan of Northrend to fulfill the treaty signed by the three kingdoms of Greatland long before she was born.

Incredible Audio Performance
Revisado: 01-17-25
This is one of the most excellently-performed audiobooks I've ever listened to. The woman behind this performance should be very proud of how she brought these words to life--as audiobook narrating has boomed as a field and become oversaturated, this performance proved how the art form isn't just about sounding good, reading well, acting well, or doing good voices. This audiobook narrator has a great understanding of words and I would listen to her read poetry (a higher compliment). The story was tremendously diverting and helped me through sleepless nights with physical pain. The author should be proud of themselves, as well, though I will say I don't think my enjoyment would be as great if I read rather than listened.

No, thank you.

Irked by Vile-a
Revisado: 10-15-24
I've read everything Ali has written, she's tremendous. This audiobook has great reviews, but I couldn't be more disappointed. I'm in Seattle IT and I just didn't believe the characters, especially the reader with her "vile-a" to listen to performance.

Historia
Fae games will change you . . . but their love will ruin you. At least, that's what my mother told me. My mother had three rules: 1. Never make a bargain with a fairy. 2. Never enter the Waywoods on a hunting day. 3. Never give the High Fae princes a reason to notice you. But even when I followed all the rules, the royal fae still took my family from me. So in one night I broke all three rules, and brought the kingdom to their knees.

Hoo-wee!
Revisado: 08-05-24
Hoo-wee, was I diverted by this audiobook! I'm a huge fan of fae like the ones I loved as a preteen, something vicious and clever like Holly Black would write about. This audiobook came at a time I've felt very preoccupied and needing diversion-- only complaint is that it is so easy for voice actors to agree on how to pronounce the characters' names. The inconsistency took me out a bit-- big SciON fan, blame my weakness for brutal dark haired raven guys. Listening to the next book now!

Great Story
Revisado: 07-15-24
Great story! I was so frustrated with the way the audiobook narrator pronounced "umbrella" that it ruined a good third of the book for me, though.

Hard to Listen to
Revisado: 07-05-24
The prospect of having to listen to the main female character's narration for more than 30 minutes has me feeling a dread unrivaled. I apologize, vocal performer, for my not wanting to be further... entertained.
