OUTSTANDING...This book will stay with you
Revisado: 03-27-20
I cannot begin to describe this book it was so well written. I rarely write reviews but this one sticks with you...I was so absorb I barely got anything done. The narrator was amazing...as a young girl then growing into a woman... as your listening she did a superb job of aging the character Vanessa. The author says this book was a long time coming and has been writing it since in her teens.. It was well worth the wait, just excellent. I am sure many people will find parts of it disturbing, maybe because I had something similar happen to me I really felt this book and all it stood for. Her behavior...you get it. I love being sucked into a story and this one is one of those books....if I could give it more than 5 stars I certainly would

The story the girl, the times, I could not stop listening. Based on a true story this guy would have been tracked down a lot sooner than this if this happened now. Back in the 50's neighboring states law enforcement barely communicated.

Historia
>When South African conservationist Lawrence Anthony was asked to accept a herd of "rogue" wild elephants on his Thula Thula game reserve in Zululand, his common sense told him to refuse. But he was the herd's last chance of survival: they would be killed if he wouldn't take them. In order to save their lives, Anthony took them in. In the years that followed he became a part of their family. And as he battled to create a bond with the elephants, he came to realize that they had a great deal to teach him about life, loyalty, and freedom.

Historia
Dublin, 1962. Within the gated grounds of the convent of the Sisters of the Holy Redemption lies one of the city's Magdalen Laundries. Once places of refuge, the laundries have evolved into grim workhouses. Some inmates are "fallen" women - unwed mothers, prostitutes, or petty criminals. Most are ordinary girls whose only sin lies in being too pretty, too independent, or tempting the wrong man. Among them is 16-year-old Teagan Tiernan, sent by her family when her beauty provokes a lustful revelation from a young priest.
