Historia
When five New Yorkers receive an anonymous, mysterious invitation to the Fifth Avenue Story Society, they suspect they’re victims of a practical joke. No one knows who sent the invitations or why. No one has heard of the literary society. And no one is prepared to reveal their deepest secrets to a roomful of strangers. Yet curiosity and loneliness bring them back week after week to the old library. And it’s there they discover the stories of their hearts, and the kind of friendship and love that heals their souls.

Forced religion and robot narrator weigh down what could’ve been a good story
Revisado: 07-08-24
The story was decent and the characters were interesting. All the religious aspects felt so fake and forced that it kind of brought everything down. However, the worst part of this audiobook was the robotic narrator. now if that was a person then they definitely need to go back to acting school. it sounded like a robot voice

Historia
It's June in Montreal, and Dr. Temperance Brennan, who has left a shaky marriage back home in North Carolina to take on the challenging assignment of Director of Forensic Anthropology for the province of Quebec, looks forward to a relaxing weekend in beautiful Quebec City. First, though, she must stop at a newly uncovered burial site in the heart of the city. The remains are probably old and only of archeological interest, but Tempe must make sure they're not a case for the police. One look at the decomposed and decapitated corpse, stored neatly in plastic bags, tells her she'll spend the weekend in the crime lab.

Slow and contrived
Revisado: 05-13-24
The style of the narrative combines with an excruciating level of detail and grinds this story nearly to a halt, several times. I had to speed up the playback to make it through.
Worse is the level of stupidity required by the main character required to get herself into life threatening situations over and over again. She is supposed to be brilliant but missed such obvious clues. I spent too much time waiting for her to catch up. Overall, this book was disappointing.
But I’m glad I hung in until the end. I will give the next one in the series a chance.

Ok but the middle dragged
Revisado: 10-07-22
In the end, I liked the story. However the middle was quite torturous. It was hard to listen to what went on in the main characters head after a while, especially after it went on for so very long.

Historia
I met Jamie Fraser when I was 19 years old. He was tall, redheaded, and, at our first meeting at least, a virgin. I fell in love hard, fast, and completely. He knew how to ride a horse, wield a sword, and stitch a wound. He was, in fact, the perfect man. That he was fictional hardly entered into it.

Sweet but sometimes painful
Revisado: 06-27-20
The protagonist was just too dumb. If she had had just a bit of self confidence or self respect she would have been a far more interesting character. The narrator gave her a voice that emphasized her naivety, which was probably appropriate to the character but made her even less likable.

Decent story, terrible narration
Revisado: 06-27-20
I feel like I would’ve liked this book if I had read it in print. Unfortunately, the narrator‘s character voices were annoying and the accents were atrocious. Both her American and Italian accent would be laughable if they weren’t so hard to listen to. They were studies in stereotypes and forced acting. The cherry on top was being forced to listen to her moist, bubbly saliva sounds. Saliva should not be audible.
