There were good suspense elements.

The substantive elements supported a suspenseful novel. However, the narration was very bad and distracted from the story. The narrator sounded like a twelve year old girl. The protagonist, Ann, was wimpy and weak. A 41 year old cardiac surgeon would not be meek and passive. To much space was taken by Ann’s whining.
Paula was petty, and an attorney in her position would not risk her career so cavalierly, it’s hard to believe that Melanie would not have told her new family that she had a sister who was left behind. I also expected to learn what happened to Melanie’s parents.
In the end, I was disappointed to see that Ann so easily discarded her husband.

Feel a bond with giraffes!

A 17 year old orphan gains an opportunity of a lifetime when he was allowed to drive two young giraffes from their arrival in New York to the San Diego Zoo in 1938. On that journey, he meets two people who care about him and about the magnificent giraffes whose lives permanently enrich his previously lonely life.

Good thriller.

I liked that this is a true thriller all the way to the end. I realize that Emma’s behavior was made somewhat erratic in order to justify other characters’ suggesting she was unstable. However, it was annoying for her to allow her husband to dictate what he would do by way of his parental responsibilities. Also, a parent shouldn’t tell a child that her concerns or fears are “silly”.

Okay story with poor naration.

The story was interesting although there were some minor errors in legal and police procedural issues. There were also some grammatical errors. These kinds of errors tend to annoy me as I'm listening. However, the most annoying thing of all was the terrible naration. The dialogue made every character sound like a petulant Tim Gunn. I would recommend the book-in the printed version only.

The things women share as parents, friends, lovers, wives and individuals.

I would recommend this book to women, especially, who have some life experiences that they've shared because most experiences - good or bad - can only be processed when filtered through the love of a friend?
