Production failure - slow down!
Revisado: 02-08-22
I’ll come back to provide a regular review once I finished the book. But I had to report this first…
The author and the artist deserve better than wat happened here. The narration is way too fast. Playing this title at 0.9x speed actually provides an excellent experience, but I fear not all will think of this.
It must be a production error, to have the narration speed off. It’s horrible to listen at at the current ‘normal’ speed. Slow it down!
3* for performance and story, as I can’t score this yet.

Disturbing editing
Revisado: 08-31-21
Too bad that on a number of occasions, re-recorded sentences differ so much. It’s disturbing the immersed experience of otherwise excellent reading.

Achilles without the heel
Revisado: 08-21-20
Really enjoyed Pushing Brilliance. First book of Mr. Tigner that I read. It came up as a suggestion based on previous reads.
A couple of times, a backstory was placed at a point where it left me hoping it was shorter as I wanted the main story to continue as that was at an exciting point.
The audio production is good. First book I remember where the reader’s sounds like deep breaths and wet mouth sounds were not edited out. Mere slight disturbances.

Wow... and not in a good way...
Revisado: 02-14-20
I started this one immediately after the first Seven Sisters book, as I enjoyed that SO much. This could not be more disappointing. And it’s not the book, the story.
It’s the narration, as so many have commented. Just read English! The obvious English writing read in such a horrible fake accent is cringing! It took me about 7 chapters to start to relax a bit on the frustration. The Norwegian part is better, but I don’t speak Norwegian, so butchered pronunciation I wouldn’t notice.
It’s the story and writing that made me continue, mostly due to book 1. I can only hope this will be re-recorded soon.
And oh, there’s also a production error. Chapter 19 already starts during the chapter 18 segment, and after about 14 minutes restarts at the start of Chapter 19. How did this make it through quality control?

My favorite so far!
Revisado: 08-23-19
This audio play is more than an audiobook. It’s an excellent story, well performed by a host of captivating vocal performers. This is truly the kind of theatrical performance that lifts the genre of the audio book to a higher level. A full on play, captivating story, wonderful performances, one of my favorite audible choices so far.

Erotica disguised as vampiric novel
Revisado: 11-25-15
Though the story itself isn't bad, has depth and character, the overly descriptive writing style grew tiresome for me. And although I thoroughly enjoyed the vampire history interpretations, I wasn't expecting the second half to fall into an erotica book, with full chapters of exhaustingly descriptive lovemaking. Chapters which made me sigh with annoyance and skip through minute by minute.
The story leaves so many openings for sequels, it does make me curious about how their lives will progress. But I'm not going to venture again into erotica disguised as vampiric novels

Overkill on the details
Revisado: 11-11-15
It isn't a bad book all together. The first person style used has as a consequence that there's very little emotion left. The main character is an analytical thinker, explaining all military details with such detail that it leaves me wondering whether it is to aid the story or to convince the reader that the author truly is very knowledgable on the subject. In my case, I started mentally sighing at the lecturing style of explaining all military aspects. Makes me pass on the next installments. Happy to have bought it on sale.

Amos Decker's life changed forever - twice. The first time was on the gridiron. A big, towering athlete, he was the only person from his hometown of Burlington ever to go pro. But his career ended before it had a chance to begin. On his very first play, a violent helmet-to-helmet collision knocked him off the field for good and left him with an improbable side effect - he can never forget anything.

Don't judge a book by it's production...
Revisado: 10-11-15
I'm a big fan of David Baldacci, so I choose this as my introduction to Audible... That was not a wise choice.
The book, the story, thoroughly enjoyed it. Baldacci as we know him. It may not end up as one of my favorites of him, like Last Man Standing & Wish You Well, but a good 'read' overall.
The production however made me doubt the professionalism of Audible! Incredibly bad editing! I feel the rating should have a production category too. Because it's not the performances. They are good! It's totally the editing...
Too bad, because I feel the books review score will suffer from that. Something must have gone horribly wrong for this to get approved by both Audible and the author.
