Historia
In early 2021, popular artist Anna Marie Tendler checked herself into a psychiatric hospital following a year of crippling anxiety, depression and self-harm. Over two weeks, she underwent myriad psychological tests, participated in numerous therapy sessions, connected with fellow patients and experienced profound breakthroughs, such as when a doctor noted, “There is a you inside that feels invisible to those looking at you from the outside.”

Historia
Social media influencer and podcast host April Ajoy wouldn’t have called herself a Christian Nationalist when she performed her original song “America Say Jesus” on the Jim Bakker show, or when she participated in Jesus Marches across America, or when she posted cringe-worthy videos on YouTube to campaign for Mitt Romney. April just considered herself a good Christian: faithful, Republican, and determined to make America a Christian nation once again.

Revisado: 12-07-24
Very enjoyable to listen to, conversational style with sources and explanations and stats. Realizing you are a Christian nationalist and then coming out of that is really hard! I’m so grateful Ajoy is sharing her story with all of us, I’ve learned so much.

Wondering why Evangelicals don’t help the poor?
Revisado: 03-29-21
Did you watch The Family on Netflix? This is the what happened before that and shows how Americans didn’t end up with more balanced views on social welfare. Wow this book is eye opening even or especially if you were raised fundamental like I was-and yet, did not hear the crazy coming from your local pulpit.

Historia
The best-known educator of the 20th century was a scammer in cashmere. "The most famous reading teacher in the world," as television hosts introduced her, Evelyn Wood had little classroom experience, no degrees in reading instruction, and a background that included a collaboration with the Third Reich. Nevertheless, a nation spooked by Sputnik and panicked by paperwork eagerly embraced her promises of a speed-reading revolution.

Glad I didn’t have to read this
Revisado: 01-10-21
I love listening to podcasts or YouTube exposés about scammers. This scammer comes out of Utah and so do lots of scammy MLM businesses so it was really interesting to see that. Also the first part of the book about her family’s early life in Nazi Germany was very interesting. I’m just joking about not reading it- but I legit didn’t know that speed reading has always been fake!

Love this stuff
Revisado: 12-29-20
I devour podcasts on this subject and I like this book because it puts all the wild stuff in perspective within what was happening in America at the time and how these ideas are nothing new. I learned a lot! I would have liked to have had at least a chapter on this subject in US history class in high school. Would have saved me a lot of time having teach myself critical thinking.

Historia
For years Ryder Carroll tried countless organizing systems, online and off, but none of them fit the way his mind worked. Out of sheer necessity, he developed a method called the Bullet Journal that helped him become consistently focused and effective. Then it went viral. To his astonishment, Bullet Journaling is now a global movement. The Bullet Journal Method is about much more than organizing your notes and to-do lists. It's about what Carroll calls "intentional living": weeding out distractions and focusing your time and energy in pursuit of what's truly meaningful.

Creative but overwhelmed
Revisado: 12-21-20
I avoided #hashtag# bullet journal because who has time for all that fancy stuff? I mean, I want to do it, and I really like it, but even though I'm creative and artsy, I felt overwhelmed. I was so happy to listen to this book (and there's a PDF to illustrate concepts) because it teaches how to do the method and it's SO simple. I came to buy this after watching a youtube video by "How to ADHD" and learning that the bujo is really simple and is supposed to help those who are easily distracted.
