Historia
Jin Rou wanted to be a cultivator. A man powerful enough to defy the heavens. A master of martial arts. A lord of spiritual power. Unfortunately for him, he died, and now I’m stuck in his body. As Jin, I’m a man of the earth. A wielder of shovels and lord of rice and wheat. And sure, I also had to die and get pulled into another universe to end up here. But guess what? I’m starting to think it was worth it. I’ve somehow managed to get away from it all.

Historia
Well, this year, after the Spring Planting season, I’m really gonna relax and put down roots. It’s the slow life for me. Sure, the talking animals and cultivators coming to live with me are a bit weird, but this year everything is gonna be basically normal. There definitely won’t be any Heavenly Tribulations, ancient formations, or cultivator issues to deal with . . .

Very amusing
Revisado: 02-21-25
There is a good message without being overly preachy. The narrator really made the most of the characters, and made it possible to catch some of the more subtle jokes. The only complaint is when the author begins a chapter from a unique point of view and it can take some time to figure out who/what is having the narrative. This was likely done on purpose to make you think but I had to rewind a few times.

Historia
Slaying undead is an endless task, but one Hunter Haeight has aspired to all her life. She joins Noelictus' Hunter's Guild and works her way up the ranks, slaying zombies, skeletons, and ghouls with dedication and zeal. However, there is a rot within the Kingdom of Shade, and Haeight's aspirations turn into doubts as she finds a web of conspiracies in the capital, Menorome. The Hunters there are off—something is afoot. It is a bewildering, overwhelming place for new Hunters, as well as the fourth Princess of Calanfer, Seraphel du Marquin, who has arrived for her marriage, unhappy and alone.

Interesting, good balance of characters. A bit slow but all necessary for the building of plot. Makes me want to see all the characters happy and in good situations. Hopefully we will get there in later books lol.

Revisado: 09-23-24
This one had a nice balance of friends, fun, plot development/actual action (not just saying “after the monster attack” and you realize that was it…) and of course : CLASSIC “JASON”!!
Some of his books get a little lost in the over-explanation of astral spaces, details of powers, sadness of trauma etc… I appreciate that the trauma has to be recognized and processed. But while that was necessary for the evolution of the character in past books, I really enjoy the faster pace now that we are past it (hopefully for good, at least to that level).
I also immensely enjoyed the glimpses of Tyker (leveling up) and Gary & Rufus being in some scenes… And Clive is a closet bad*A—, who needs someone awesome to appreciate him!
But honestly, I just really liked this one.

Great but…
Revisado: 09-06-24
This book, like book 4, takes place completely on Earth. A rapidly changing earth, but still.
It’s just a personal preference but I want Jason to get back to the other world. His tasks on this world are not interesting to me, the idea of changing the world with metaphysical nodes and conceptual spaces is creative, but a bit too abstract for me.
It is a testament to the great characters and writing that I am willing to keep going through this and the next book, (Spoiler!!!) for the promise of returning to Palimustis. And this book has its high points. Just not quite as “magical” (pun intended) as the highly magical world we began our story in. Still, as I say, the talent and charm of the writer rings through. Worth a credit for sure.

Historia
Arriving in L.A. to visit the set of a new streaming horror series, journalist Laura Warren witnesses a man jumping from a bridge, landing right behind her car. Here we go, she thinks. It’s started. Because the series she’s reporting on is a remake of a ’90s horror flick. A cursed ’90s horror flick, which she starred in as a child—and has been running from her whole life.

Almost as good as The Shadow Glass
Revisado: 09-27-23
It kept me guessing!
I was not sure until the end if there was a curse, other paranormal elements or just a “bad guy”; and if it WAS a “bad guy” who that might be.
The author had good pacing. He gave enough info about the past—of the characters themselves and Guesthouse movie—and also the current events. He hinted at things but you didn’t feel “led”.
I liked it. I REALLY liked the last 30 minutes or so. Not a super deep read. But very entertaining!

No need to read the original series if you haven’t.
Just a cool take on a concept that’s been done to death. I didn’t think I would like it but it was a free read and I was totally wrong, all three books are good.

A nice ending to the trilogy, follows the vein of many of her similar books but a cozy listen if you are a fan of hers. Nothing new or extraordinary I’d say though.

Mixed feelings
Revisado: 07-31-21
So… mixed feelings. Overall, I liked it.
You have to take it with a grain of salt, it is NOT a BDB book. So with an open mind, it was an interesting premise, the chemistry was there between Lydia and Daniel, there are promising hints of conflict and things we don’t know…. It kept me interested.
But I think the complaints by other reviewers of it being “forced, disjointed, and clearly meant as a set up for the “wolven”/spin-off series” are valid. I can only hope the author doesn’t continue to lose quality, as she has so many “spin offs”: Bourbon series, Black Dagger Legacy Series, Prison Camp series, Wolven Series, etc. As the second Prison camp book seems to feature a Wolven lead, perhaps she can streamline it back together.
I AM interested in learning more about the Sympathy colony and (spoiler alert) Xhex’s brother as we go on.
So in spite of some mixed feelings, I WILL be reading the next book…. cliffhangers are used because they are so effective. :)
