Historia
Liv’s happy with life in her thirties. She has two cats, one BFF, and no boyfriend, which is just how she likes it. Plus, she loves working at a not-for-profit software company where she can be her authentically autistic self. This is her happy ever after. But when her beloved firm merges with a repulsive rival, Liv finds herself competing with her sort-of-ex for the top job. Sure, Finn had been Liv’s best friend, with his nerdy good looks and their shared love of Tolkien, but there was that one night, their song, and … well, she doesn’t like to talk about it.

Historia
Lana Fleming’s sister has vanished from the set of TV’s hottest show, and no one seems to care. Desperate for answers, Lana sneaks in as an extra, only to get stranded with Griffin Hart, an A-list action star with a reputation for good abs and bad decisions. Though Griffin didn’t expect to be cast as a librarian’s sidekick in a real-life thriller, he’s weirdly into it—and into her. Even more unsettling—she sees right through his playboy persona. But their meet-cute soon turns deadly when they uncover a Hollywood scandal for the ages.

What a surprise
Revisado: 04-07-25
I picked up this book on a lark. I was looking for something different than what I’ve been reading. I was looking for something new. This filled the bill. At first I thought it was just another girl with self esteem issues meets handsome man who shows her her worth. But mystery underneath the live story made the book. Loved the twists and turns. It was quite the ride.

A different take on cold cases
Revisado: 04-04-25
When I usually think of cold cases I picture tons of computer work and not much action. Not here! Lots of action and snark. I’ll be reading more.

Historia
It’s a dream assignment. Former Senator Dorothy Gibson, aka that woman, is the most talked-about person in the country right now, though largely for the wrong reasons. As an independent candidate for President of the United States, Dorothy split the vote and is being blamed for the shocking result. After her very public defeat, she’s retreated to her home in rural Maine, inviting her ghostwriter to join her.

Cool idea
Revisado: 03-08-25
I liked the book but worked hard to like the main character. Just a little too acerbic for me. Hoping she is humanized a little more in future books.

City of Time and Magic sees Xanthe face her greatest challenges yet. She must choose from three treasures that sing to her; a beautiful writing slope, a mourning brooch of heartbreaking detail, and a gorgeous gem-set hat pin. All call her, but the wrong one could take her on a mission other than that which she must address first, and the stakes could not be higher. Xanthe must follow the treasure that will take her to him if he is not to be lost forever.

Revisado: 02-09-25
The concept of this series is very different. There are chime travelers and adventures galore. I enjoyed learning about different points in time and I like the venture. I hope there are more coming.

Historia
It's an ordinary day at Harry's Hair Stop until Imogene hears her favorite client's dying wish. Two days later, she finds herself in the embalming room at Greener Pastures Mortuary, bottle of hair dye and scissors in hand. Styling her client's hair for the funeral is creepy. She'd expected that. But she hadn't expected the body to buzz like it was loaded with corpse caffeine. Was it her imagination, or was something more sinister at play? Determined to prove her sanity, she teams up with the mortuary's handsome night watchman to investigate.

When the enslaved Jim overhears that he is about to be sold to a man in New Orleans, separated from his wife and daughter forever, he decides to hide on nearby Jackson Island until he can formulate a plan. Meanwhile, Huck Finn has faked his own death to escape his violent father, recently returned to town. As all readers of American literature know, thus begins the dangerous and transcendent journey by raft down the Mississippi River toward the elusive and too-often-unreliable promise of the Free States and beyond.

Good!
Revisado: 01-27-25
My book club decided to read this book. I didn’t know much about it but the others were so excited to read it. I decided to listen to Huckleberry Finn again first. Wow the contrast is enough to knock you upside the head. This is likely a better rendition of the story but again it is told from a different perspective of Jim/James. Mmm without a doubt it is incredibly thought provoking. I am very glad to have read/ listened to it. I can tell it is one of those stories that will stick with me for quite some time.

Sea Isle was supposed to be the fresh start Dr. Emilia McRoy dreamed of. Far from the busy emergency room across the Atlantic in Seattle, she hoped to settle down and begin this new chapter as a small-town doctor to the quirky residents who immediately welcomed her. When she stumbles across a dead body, she starts to think that she may not be as Scot free of the drama and intrigue as she initially thought.

Really enjoyed. Getting ready for a trip to Scotland and Ireland. This helped me feel even better about that trip.
Good story with interesting characters. Liked the mystery as much as the character development. A fun series.
