Historia
This intimate memoir reveals the woman inside one of autism’s most prominent figures, Jennifer O'Toole. At the age of 35, Jennifer was diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome, and for the first time in her life, things made sense. Now, she exposes the constant struggle between carefully crafted persona and authentic existence, editing the autism script with wit, candor, passion, and power. Her journey is one of reverse-self-discovery not only as an Aspie but - more importantly - as a thoroughly modern woman.

Heartwarming
Revisado: 08-08-22
I couldn't help but feel deeply connected with the story of this woman, and I find myself wondering how many times did I misjudge or unfairly treat an undiagnosed girl at school... and how little we know about it. Listening to the author's journey was very eye opening and I feel extremely grateful to her for sharing, in a way that is easy to understand.

Essentialism is more than a time-management strategy or a productivity technique. It is a systematic discipline for discerning what is absolutely essential, then eliminating everything that is not, so we can make the highest possible contribution toward the things that really matter.

Excellent and to the point
Revisado: 05-04-22
Simple principles to achieve more by doing less, and focusing on what really matters. It may sound like just common sense, but I love it how the author brakes it down into strategies to keep us from wandering. Having the author himself narrate the book truly adds up, as every sentence feels more intentional.

Historia
Every day, we find ourselves in gatherings, Priya Parker says in The Art of Gathering. If we can understand what makes these gatherings effective and memorable, then we can reframe and redirect them to benefit everyone, host and guest alike. Parker defines a gathering as three or more people who come together for a specific purpose. When we understand why we gather, she says - to acknowledge, to learn, to challenge, to change - we learn how to organize gatherings that are relevant and memorable.

Excellent insight on meaningful gatherings
Revisado: 10-10-21
I don't entertain very often at home, but at the office I have been both at the organizing and at the attending end of events, seminars, trainings, coaching sessions, and parties. This book contains a wealth of information on how to create gatherings that are meaningful and truly engaging. Be it a formal dinner, an office event, or a family function, large or small. If you are ever in a host/organizer role, no matter the context, I'd say this book is a must read, trust me. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Monotone narrator

I really tried to engage with the story, but unfortunately the narrator has a very flat style, similar to a robot (like the text to speech function), that made it hard to stay tuned.

Historia
Elizabeth Lesser believes that if women’s voices had been equally heard and respected throughout history, humankind would have followed different hero myths and guiding stories - stories that value caretaking, champion compassion, and elevate communication over vengeance and violence. Cassandra Speaks is about the stories we tell and how those stories become the culture. It’s about the stories we still blindly cling to, and the ones that cling to us: the origin tales, the guiding myths, the religious parables, the literature and films and fairy tales passed down....

One of the best books I have ever read.
Revisado: 05-22-21
One of the best and most inspiring books I have ever read. It talks about changing history and society's narrative and outlook past and present by incorporating the female perspective, voice, values, and presence. And it does so in such a natural, kind, healing, and conciliatory way. Simple things like taking a fresh look at what we consider power and leadership are or should be, asserting our opinions and values while also listening to others that may think differently, etc. All from a place of love and partnership. No war here, no confrontation, just truly seeing and hearing each other. It made me dream of a much better world, that I want to believe is possible.
