Historia
The Letters of Abelard and Heloise is one of the most extraordinary correspondences in European history. Written in the 12th century, the letters document the love affair between Peter Abelard, a revolutionary philosopher and biblical scholar, and his beautiful and precocious student, Heloise. Eviscerated by his religious opponents and castrated by Heloise’s family, Abelard is haunted by ill fortune, and the star-crossed lovers are forced into separate lives, as monk and nun respectively, with letters being their only form of communication.

Abelard and Heloise...
Revisado: 04-16-25
As expected (being written in the 12th century and the circumstances) there's a LOT of religious subjects and theological discussions between Abelard and Heloise that are a bit heavy and difficult to follow at times. Even so, what's truly remarkable is their intellectual minds and the unbelievable capacity to be able to carry on with their lives when faced with tremendous adversity and extremely difficult events.
There's an excellent book called "Heloise & Abelard: A New Biography" written by James Burge (only in paper format) which is a great addition to this audio book (if still interested in this subject). James Burge takes the most significant events in Heloise's and Abelard's lives and dissects them wonderfully while adding relevant historical details that positions the reader right into the contemporaneous events.

Historia

Historia
He is one of the most reviled English kings in history. He drove his kingdom to the brink of civil war a dozen times in less than twenty years. He allowed his male lovers to rule the kingdom. He led a great army to the most ignominious military defeat in English history. He was Edward II, and this book tells his story. Kathryn Warner strips away the myths which have been created about him over the centuries, and provides a far more accurate and vivid picture of him than has previously been seen.

The narrator completely ruins the book. Her exaggerated pronunciations and pauses makes it very difficult to follow. Instead I'm ordering a hard copy.

Revisado: 12-29-23
After reading some of the negative reviews about this book, I honestly wasn’t even going to attempt to get through it. I too thought it was just going to be a money grab book report written and narrated by a high school senior. But I didn’t really care. I would have bought it anyway just to give her something for her bravery while so many of her colleagues did nothing. Fortunately, I started listening to her recount events leading up to Jan 6th and beyond. It was a fantastic journey and it felt like you were right there with her. Even her earlier life was interesting and you get to understand and appreciate the courage it must have taken for a republican child who had a father that worshiped Trump to go do the right thing for the country. This is a real patriot. I wish her luck and hope she gets back into politics soon. Maybe even run for congress someday. Thank you for your service.

Historia
Virginal, chaste, humble, patiently waiting for rescue by brave knights and handsome princes: this idealized—and largely mythical—notion of the medieval noblewoman still lingers. Yet the reality was very different, as Kelcey Wilson-Lee shows in this vibrant account of the five daughters of Edward I, often known as Longshanks. The lives of these sisters—Eleanora, Joanna, Margaret, Mary, and Elizabeth—ran the gamut of experiences open to royal women in the Middle Ages.

Is A.I reading this book???
Revisado: 11-11-23
I'm returning this audio book and buying a hard copy. I don't get the almost five stars on this narrator... She sounds like a robot making the narration completely tedious and monotonous.
What a pity.

Historia
Goering, Goebbels, Himmler, Heydrich, Hess, Bormann - names synonymous with power and influence in the Third Reich. Perhaps less familiar are Carin, Emmy, Magda, Margarete, Lina, Ilse, and Gerda. These are the women behind the infamous men - complex individuals with distinctive personalities who were captivated by Hitler and whose everyday lives were governed by Nazi ideology. Throughout the rise and fall of Nazism these women loved and lost, raised families, and quarreled with their husbands and each other, all the while jostling for position with the Fuhrer himself.

I'm listening for a second time because it was so captivating.
I recommend slowing down the speed a bit... the "wives" names can be confusing at first, but afterwards it's very easy to follow...
The narrator is superb... and the story overall really fascinating. A great addition for those interested in WW2 period.

Historia
Here is the tragic, stormy life of Mary Tudor, daughter of Henry VIII and Katherine of Aragon. Her story is a chronicle of courage and faith, betrayal and treachery - set amidst the splendor, pageantry, squalor, and intrigue of 16th-century Europe. The history of Mary Tudor is an improbable blend of triumph, humiliation, heartbreak, and devotion - and Ms. Erickson recounts it all against the turbulent background of European politics, war, and religious strife of the mid-1500s.

I agree with other comments about this audio book.
There's very little about Mary Tudor and most of it is dedicated to her father, mother, intrigues, politics, wars, etc.
Very disappointing. I'll try to find another author about this subject.
