Look at the reviews
Revisado: 06-05-22
There’s a reason this book is rated 5 stars total but all the reviews seem to be negative upon first glance. If you scroll far enough you’ll see that they went from 5 stars from 9/10 listeners for thousands of ratings to all the sudden everyone hates it because he’s a narcissist and blah blah blah. Clearly these bias reviews are inspired by the Oscars incident rather than the books content which I feel is completely unfair. You’re supposed to be rating a book, not a man by his mistakes.
It’s also unfair to claim the entire book was him bragging. You expect a rapper turned actor to not brag? Almost every rapper is a bragger. Especially from his era of rap. The man has accomplished so much in his career and this book is a story of his life. Of course he’s going to talk about all the highs with pride. Who wouldn’t be proud of what he’s accomplished? But he also talked about all his fears, his insecurities, his pain, his mistakes and most vulnerable moments. It wasn’t all bragging. That’s bs. It was the whole WILL story. Not many men can publicly out themselves exposing all the most vulnerable facets of their existence. From the highest mountain tops to the lowest valleys of his life and career.
I thought it was phenomenal. I laughed, I cried. And I learned a lot. There’s plenty of wisdom and knowledge to be taken from this project.
If only people would stop jumping on the “triggered” bandwagon and judging the man’s entire life over an unfortunate lapse in judgement. It was devoid of class. It was embarrassing for him and everyone else involved. He messed up and he knows it and regrets it. Can’t we just leave it at that? Y’all act like you don’t eff up. I know I do/have.
He’s got a ton of issues and I hope he finds the peace he’s been looking for for decades. But this was one of the best memoirs I have EVER had the pleasure of experiencing. 5 stars from me.

Historia
Eight-year-old orphan Beth Harmon is quiet, sullen, and by all appearances unremarkable. That is, until she plays her first game of chess. Her senses grow sharper, her thinking clearer, and for the first time in her life she feels herself fully in control. By the age of 16, she's competing for the US Open championship. But as Beth hones her skills on the professional circuit, the stakes get higher, her isolation grows more frightening, and the thought of escape becomes all the more tempting.

Horrible
Revisado: 04-17-22
So sad because this is a fantastic story, but this narrators performance is atrocious. It’s like listening to a robot try and speak seductively.
And the way she accents the last word of nearly every sentence makes me feel like my ears are about to start bleeding. No thank you. I’d much rather read the novel or watch the series again.

Historia
Buddhism is often considered a religion by new practitioners. For many Buddhists it is more of a way of life than a religion. Buddhists believe meditation and other practices will lead to changes in oneself. These changes are aimed at creating awareness, wisdom, and kindness within in order to reach spiritual enlightenment. Buddhism represents the end of suffering for anyone able to attain enlightenment, because the person no longer dwells on what they lack but learns to live with the reality of what is, without needs, wants, or desires.

Ok for an intro
Revisado: 05-07-17
I am new to Buddhism hence my interest in this book and although I feel this book taught me a thing or two I wasn't very fond of the narrators style. He spoke too fast for my liking. Almost as if he rushed though it hardly even pausing between sentences. For someone completely ignorant but interested in walking the path of the Buddha, I would have enjoyed and absorbed more of this had the narrator read a little slower. It's a lot to take in in a small amount of time. I shall listen again. Good deal for the price tho.
