What do you expect in Andy Weir's book? A nerdy character, some cool technologies, some clever plot twist based on a problem to solve, where science can be used at their best. You have all this here. This is a short story, so you don't have all the time to develop the plot and the characters, but he is able to put everything here. Highly recommended.

This is another good work of Murakami. With all those characteristics present in other of your works. Here we have the middle-aged male character who has no name, loneliness, constant references to musical themes, animals and some fantastic realism. It's a long work, which will require the reader's effort, but it will reward you with complex and real characters in stories interconnected parallel. Those who will miss you and a big void when it's over.

The title refers to a passage from Mozart's opera Don Giovanni, which is portrayed in a painting in the book, which in turn has a bearing on the lives of the characters and now plays an important role throughout the text. Like every good work of art, Killing Commendatore has many layers and metaphor is, as it were, a main character in the story. The text explores the art and relationships that music, painting, literature and the very reality of the characters' lives bring to each other.

As a declared fan of Murakami could not fail to recommend this his latest work.

The lesson I took from this book is to not listen to philosophy audiobooks, especially Hegel's philosophy.

Story is a book written for anyone who wants to make a movie script. One more class, but one complete course on writing. What is not part of a script, like me, can benefit from doing better than happens in the movies and television series that we often enjoy. Arcs, movies are passed on to a reason for attention. This reading is a critical vision and at the same time that the capacity of the reader looks for the events in the changes of the people, in the construction of the scenes and in the sequences. It will help identify what a movie is from a collection of clichés. Highly recommended.

The book The Sphere is a space science fiction book passed in a near present. The main character is a psychiatrist who is part of a team of scientists invited by the government to investigate a suspicious discovery. In the middle of the Pacific, a ship was found on the bottom of the ocean within which is the sphere of the title. The story has all the elements of a successful book: action, science, romance, emotion, and well-built characters. but I have many caveats with the end.

A necessary book, but rather boring

The book is an exercise of futurology on the possibility and consequences of the creation of an artificial superintelligence. This is a very contemporary subject and has been discussed by many personalities from the entrepreneur Elon Musk to the late scientist Stephen Hawkins. The book does a series of very careful thought experiments and analysis on various of the aspects of the superintelligence. The possibility and the technologies available for creating it, the need for an alternative of controlling the different scenarios of its possible uprising against humans. Although the book is very good, it is extremely boring and tiresome. My take if that there are so many factors to consider in this problem that it is barely treatable. If you want a deep study on this matter you should read the book, if you want a more quick view there are other, more recent studies available.

I cannot imagine the pressure of writing a new book after the huge success of The Martian, but Andy Weir did it. The place now is the Moon in a near future and the main character is Jasmin a young Arab woman. The book is good, very entertainer, but it's not as much as his first book. I found hard to be emphatic with Jasmin and her decisions, it is definitely worth reading.

I have been studying Artificial Intelligence and its applications for some time now, so my review is a little biased. I consider the book as good overall view of the techniques and its applications. I found noteworthy value in the classifications of the techniques. But the idea of an ultimate master algorithm is still at its very beginning if ever it will exist. A combination of existing technique will hardly lead to something more than the existing techniques.

With a lot of research and the large amount of original writings he can reconstruct part of the mind of the genius and bring us very close to his way of living and thinking. I especially like the description of the paintings, how he conceived and the many details that are not easily known. I always have high expectation for the author and every time he astonishes me.

The Change Agent is the most recent book of Daniel Juarez, I have read them all, and this is not the best one, unfortunally. For me, Daemon is still his best. Daniel gets a interesting current technological fact to the extreme, in this case gene editing, and creates a story around it, as should good sci fi do.

The story happen in 2045 when genetic editing is at its peak, when wealthy parents are choosing what enhancements they should give to their childrem. The book brings up interesting discussion about the legal and other social consequences of CRISPR/Cas9 technology, that is worth reading about. The plot is a bit predictable, but some characters are very interesting that could lead to an nice movie. A nice reading for a SciFi fan.
